      Another 5-HTP thread.

      So, I've had some 5-HTP for a while, and have read some pretty scary things about long term effects such as heart scaring etc.
      and was just really wondering, are any of the 'rumors' true? Is there any scientific fact behind it causing EMS among other things?

      The reason I'm cautious is because I've got pretty high blood pressure, and am worried about my heart as it is, so if this can potentially cause heart attacks or something, then I'm out straight away.

      As with any supplement, you take it at your own risk.

      The best advice anyone can give is to consult a doctor. Regardless of what anyone tells you about safety or problems, knowing about your own condition allows you to make better decisions.

      Once you know the risks and your own condition, you can decide if the risk is worth it to you.

      It's likely a low-risk supplement from what I see published but everyone will have a different experience.

      Personally, by what I see, you could just as easily enjoy a turkey sandwich and a glass of milk and have the same results for less money...and it tastes better.

      To echo MelanieB (who's right, of course), I'd like to make one small suggestion:

      If you're worried that a supplement might literally kill you, then the place for answers is not the internet. Ask your doctor about it.
