      New Theory

Well i had a "few" drinks 2 nights ago and yesterday i was "recovering" and trying to keep my water up... but last night i had the most "real" and best dream of my life, well that i can remember , and anyway when i woke up this morning i was REALLY thirsty and dehydrated so i just thought maybe that's what gave me a good dream???

Has anyone ever experimented with being dehydrated? Just a new test I'm thinking of doing to see if it wasn't a coincidence, also that night that i had some drinks i would have to say was the 2nd best dream that i can remember (dehydration would explain that one to)

I've seen a post or two around DV that suggest that drinking can produce better experiences in dreams, like with vividness and such. This topic here speaks a little on starving yourself in the hopes of having more vivid dreams, so dehydration may just be another way to do that. I imagine this'll take more experimentation to find if it'll consistently work for you or not.

I think I will try this tonight. How long before bed do you think my last glass of water should be?

If you're looking to dehydration, I guess that'd just be a trial-and-error thing for you, Hostilehobo. I'd say 8-12 hours from your last drink of water should get you pretty darn thirsty. But, that's seriously just a guess, that's about like not drinking anything from when you get up to when you go to bed, so maybe less time than that, but like I said, you'll need to test things.

Yes pretty much what Clyde said... It would be different with everyone but i just know when i woke up i was pretty damn thirsty so im not really sure... I tried it last night but i cant remember my dream but i do know i had one

I wasn't as thirsty in the morning so i now know to drink a lil less water then what i did yesterday... "trial-and-error" pretty much says it all...

      Post any test results here

Just saying its not that healthy to do it. And could cause sereous problems. As long as you only do it for a short-time period. Because its dangerous.

When I'm dehydrated my brain just seems to get very foggy. I often wake up extremely thirsty, sometimes my eyes are very dry too. I wonder what that means. All I know is that I use to always have LD (and not be thirsty) and in recent years they are gone

btw when taking milk thistle (Gaia milk thistle seed) i dehydrate like crazy.

It may have more to do with the alcohol, than the water.

Alcohol is known to suppress REM sleep, during the first half of the night, and give a rebound effect during the latter half. Did you sleep a full 8 hours or more, the night you drank - or did you wake up after a few hours?

If the latter (or - possibly to a lesser extent - the former), you might have just been experiencing REM rebound, on your second night of sleep, if REM was significantly suppressed, during the night you drank.

So, when you went to sleep, the following day, your brain was making up for the REM sleep you lost, the night before; assuming it hadn't already sufficiently caught up.

      Just a theory, though.

Nah i think i got about 7 hours sleep the night i drank so it shouldn't be that???

But that still seems like a good idea, I mean the REM rebound thing not the drinking
REM = good, Drinking = BAD!!!

when i used to drink i found one or 2 beers relaxed me enough to have great dreams.
i think it was the relaxation not the dehydration, but who really knows?
