      my first lucid dream? idk.

well, i had a dream that wasn't lucid at first, but i then said to myself, hey this isn't real, and i close my eyes and i turned out to be at a mall. I started telling my subconscious that they can do whatever they want to. I jumped really high, then i flew for a while. the whole time i was in a mall.

My question is: was i lucid, or can you have a DREAM about thinking your lucid.

Never close your eyes in a lucid dream; you have to remain aware of your surroundings to avoid destabilizing the dream!

As for your question: you can definitely have a dream that you're lucid, but not actually lucid. The thing that differentiates between the two types is whether or not you felt a sudden awareness within the dream. Lucids are 99.9% characterized by the person feeling conscious within the dream. If you're just going through things like a normal dream, except you're saying things like "I'm dreaming", it wasn't a lucid, just a dream with day residue: stuff you've thought about during the day, like dreaming.

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

      Puffin is right

Also, moving the thread to lucid experiences, as that is the forum we talk about lucid dreams, specifically
