Question What just happened? Beginner needs help!

      Hey everyone!
I'm new to the website and I've tried searching for what I'm about to describe, but I didn't find anything on this. Anyways... last night I went to bed around 11pm. As I was laying in bed, I kept telling myself "You WILL have a lucid dream, you WILL have a lucid dream" or other phrases that were similar. Well time passed and I must have fell asleep because before I knew it, it was about 5:30 in the morning. BUT! when I woke up from my dream, I didn't open my eyes... I knew I had awoken from my dream, but I remembered a technique where you keep your eyes closed and start thinking about your next dream and you might become lucid. DEILD? Anyways, I must have laid there for at least 40 mins repeating my usual "You WILL have a lucid dream" and then I remember reading some stuff on SP. I thought my body was going numb and it felt like I couldn't move anything so I thought I was getting close to my dreams!!! but as I got close, for some reason my body would move and I had to shift to a more comfortable position.. I remember my 3rd time attempting to stay conscious as I tried to start dreaming again, I started to sort of play my own little movie/dream in my head and at the time I thought my body was in SP. The last thing I remember is me looking at the ground (in my like half dream vision) and then just falling through it (I got some falling sensation) and then my whole body just went crazy numb and felt like something pushing down on me. It was THEN I knew something was about to happen and i admit, it was scary but I got excited knowing I might fall into a dream while being conscious! It felt as though right as I maybe landed in my dream, I moved again/woke up and found myself back in my bed.
What the heck happened?? Do you think I was close to attaining lucidity? Has someone else experienced this as a beginner? haha
Not sure what happened after because I just had regular dreams. When I wrote in my dream journal though I was surprised at how many details I remembered. I had every little tiny detail down to a T! It was strange....

Sorry for the novel! I'm just super excited about trying all these new things

What your describing seems most likely like Sleep paralysis to me, which is the beginnings of the dreams. Some may see and hear persons, some flot in their bed while some just see colours.
Thats is a really good start, which you gotta take advantage of.
Check up some WILD or V-WILD tutorials up. DV even got a whole subforum for it.
Just remember that this, nor how scary it may seem, can't hurt you in any way. Alot of people get scared of this and therefore quit using it.
      Hope that explains some,

Ya I figured it was something like that. Whenever I keep trying to lay still and let the SP take over my body and start to dream, for some reason it all backs out RIGHT as the dream starts I swear haha. I'm doing something uncontrollably right at the last freaking second! I think i'm trying to WILD and I should probably just start with DILD or something easier before I try to start hitting home runs

      You may do both!
DILD is fine alone, thats what im using, but it may also be able to used as a support technique, which means it kind of a "Second chance" if the main one doesnt succed.
