The First Wild I Ever Had.

About seven years ago and long before I knew anything about lucid dreaming I had an experience I would like to tell you about here. I do not keep an online dream journal, nor have I publicly documented many of my LD's on this forum but this one is particular interesting.

I had stayed up very late for about 2 nights in a row... I got very little sleep both nights although I did get some. This was during the midst of hot summer and that day was very hot. I didn't have air conditioning at the time.. so my house also was not pleasant. I had taken off my shirt, and most of my clothes. I had gotten a glass of water and sat down in the chair drinking it trying to cool off... I was very very tired, sleepy, and groggy... possibly not only from the lack of sleep but also the heat. I sat the water down and sit back in the chair stretching out attempting to relax.. within about 15 seconds I went from being incredibly sleepy and groggy to feeling very energized and wide awake.. I continued to sit there but felt like suddenly I would not be able to sleep.. I stood up from the chair and realized the house was no longer hot but neutral... I realized very quickly that the entire scenario was very out of place for a matter of seconds to have passed.. the house not being hot. me not being tired.. and it didn't quite look the same looking out my door.. I turned around to find I was staring at myself sleeping laid back in the chair still.. Incredibly I became amazed that I was having an out of body experience... I decided to walk back to my 'body" and sit down in the chair to re-enter. When I do this, suddenly I am back in my body, and tired, exhausted even, and very groggy again... For years I tried to understand what had happened. I saw my body and actively re-entered it so I assumed that this must have been an OBE.

Sometime early last year, I was researching this exact incident to see if I could find what other people's experiences were like... and I came across this exact website... started researching, studying, and finally practicing, and within my first week of knowing what Lucid Dreaming/OBE's where, had my first.

Now that I know substantially more about Lucid Dreaming and Wilding, I understand now that this was just a form of wild with a false awakening scenario... but it was amazing. I now understand or at least personally believe that the majority of, if not all, out of body experiences are nothing but WILDS/LD...

Has anyone else had experiences like this, possibly long before knowing about lucid dreaming?

The first time I WILD'ed was sort of on accident. I had woken up around 5:30am and felt like I was way too awake to go to bed, and so I drank a cup of coffee and played Elder Scrolls: Oblivion for a while. After 45 minutes I started feeling incredibly groggy, despite the coffee, and went back to sleep. As I was lying there I started seeing HI of going through a Oblivion-esque dungeon and decided to give WILD a try and voila, it worked.

      No OBE experiences yet, though.

That is a freaky surprise. Too bad you didn't take a minute to explore. The first spontaneous lucid dreams and OBEs I had were due to sleep paralysis. I used to get it all the time when I was young, especially if I was home sick from school. I would doze all day on the couch, or in bed, and get really intense SP.

Ya I completely agree and I can't explain where this feeling came from but I had an overwhelming feeling that I could easily go "back to my body" and leave again... I felt this so strongly that I decided to go "back to my body" just to prove it, although, once I was back I was unable to leave again, and really didn't have the desire or any idea where to start... I was so groggy and tired that I eventually just went to sleep.

I had searched for a long time for a way to recreate this, or to make this happen again.. I was convinced it had something to do with the fact I had not slept, and it was very hot. My thinking of the time was I had tapped some part of the mind that allowed me to do something so amazing.. but now I do realize it was amazing and it can be created easily, but was not exactly what I thought at the time... I wonder if there have been many others who have ended up stumbling onto this place or others researching unknown personal experiences.
