I´m pretty new to lucid dreaming, but have had enough experiences now to see the value of setting up a dreaming task for when I´m lucid beforehand. The task I have set has to do with what´s real, and if "physical" and dream worlds intersect: "Find something in the dream that you can check upon waking that will prove that dreams are real." I read somewhere about a lady who had an out of body experience (OBE) and saw a shoe on the roof, could describe it accurately afterwards, and it turned out to really be there.
In my last two lucid dreams I have searched very enthusiastically for things that would accomplish this. 2 insights so far:
1. I will always think that the place/item I have found has an equivalent in the physical world, but upon waking I realise that it hasn´t, at least not that I´m aware of. Sometimes close, but most often totally unfamiliar to me.
2. Someone will always try to stop me from finding this proof. I might be memorizing something for later checks and someone will try to distract me, or I will place something somewhere that I plan to find when awake, and someone turns up with a knife. These figures are silent, but their intentions are clear to me in the dream.
I´m thinking now my task is futile, and that I would better use my experiences for something more constructive. Still, I would appreciate any comments on this task, and on the figures that seem determined to hinder me. Who are they?
