      The Frigum

Been a while, but here I am, having made countless new experiences. Here is one from last night:

After inducing a WILD, I found myself outside in the streets, looking for something that might catch my interest. I approached a nearby house and tried to get inside from the garden at the back, but somehow couldn't. The scene was unstable and I had to struggle to sustain my state. After succeeding, I went on for a while and came to a flight of stairs leading down into a basement vault. The stability of the area was perfect, which I took as an invitation to descend.

The corridors had white-painted, unplastered walls and were widely ramified. Not far into the maze, I encountered a woman, but she ran away scaredly as I neared, further into the basement complex. Hastily, I followed, but stopped, when I saw a massive blue creature emerging from the opposite site of the corridor I was in, rushing along the way the woman went. It looked pretty much like generic media depictions of "orcs" or "ogres": Wild, muscular, huge and dangerous. Did I look like one of those to her too? Was that the reason she fled?

I continued chasing the woman and now the orc as well. At the next junction, another one... no, two more of those monsters engaged in the hunt. What was going on here? I was so determined to find out, that I nearly abandoned the required emotional distance to preserve my lucidity, but eventually lost track somewhere deep within the labyrinth and ended up in a secluded room full of junk.

The stuff lying around in the well-lit 25 square meter chamber didn't attract my attention for more than a short glance, but it looked like someone might dwell here. I didn't have to wait long before the presumable occupants showed up: Two men of different stature, one small and thin, the other big and heavy. They sat down in front of me. The big one kept in the background, so obviously the small one was to be my interlocutor. He involved me in quite a confusing conversation, that I couldn't really follow, much less recall. Somewhere far away I heard the distant sound of a woman screaming. Seems they finally caught her.

Starting to lose awareness, I pulled myself together and told the small man to shut up. I demanded to "see beyond". I wanted to realize, what the situation was really about. What did those two men represent? Instantly, their appearance changed. The big man's head turned into a stylized form of a tiny black skull, not larger than an eyeball, making him not only look even more plump, but also pretty dumb. The small man underwent a very different transformation: His skin turned silvery-blue, his features deepened, his ears became long and pointed and his mouth presented a row of menacingly sharp teeth. The cunningness reflected in his expression seemed no less sharp. The term "Kobold" came to my mind. It wasn't the first time I met one of his kind.

When asked what he was, he replied "Frigum". (I looked it up later and interestingly, it resembles the accusative form of the latin word "frigus", which means "coldness", but that might not mean much. After all, Frigum is a proper name and I don't even know the exact spelling.) On further inquiry, he told me that there are different factions of beings that distinguish generally and often locally. "So whenever I interact with someone in a dream, it's really one of you?", I assumed. "Yes.", he simply answered. During our conversation, he touched my right forearm with his left hand and something extruded from his fingertips, piercing through my flesh. I could uncomfortably feel it crawl along, making it's way upwards, but was able to repel it several times with some mental effort. I didn't dare to directly defend myself against this potential attack, because I didn't want to disrupt the conversation. To my astonishment, he said that we (humankind?) are suffering from the "sickness of the skin". It took some time to explore his remark and to understand, what he actually meant, but I concluded that he was referring to what we regard as physical existence. I told him, that I do not consider it a sickness, but a school, a state of gathering experience. "You have come very far.", he muttered before I awoke.
