There's a few different reasons as to why you entered a fuzzy, less-than-vivid dream. First, you might have WILDed at the wrong time of your sleep cycle; it's best to attempt a WILD right before a REM phase starts so there's still lots of dream to be formed. You could've just had bad luck, too. I've had DILDs where the dream was very dark and I couldn't see a thing. If you end up in a blurry dream, you can try strongly imagining a dream scene but if that doesn't work, the other option is to wake yourself up and attempt a DEILD. Two things can happen with the DEILD - firstly, you can end up being unable to enter another dream, which could confirm whether you were at the end of a REM cycle, which isn't the best for WILDing. Or, you could enter a new, more stable dream.
