I was taking a nap this afternoon and I experienced my first ever lucid dream. After joining Dreamviews 4 months ago I finally know what its like. (I was getting kind of discouraged in the end because no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get myself to lucid dream.
I had a few cups of coffee an hour before my nap and I took nap because I had absolutely no sleep the night before and I finally got into a lucid dream.
I remember being at my house and my grandparents were there and I was thinking to myself, "Wait? How is this possible? My grandparents are dead (sadly enough)." This is where I went lucid. I didn't really do much at that exact moment because I would need to confirm it because the dream world felt so real. I remember that in order to save myself from potential embarrasement in front of my DC family, I would need to leave the house. I told them I was going for a walk. I headed outside and it looked exactly like my street. I saw a DC standing across the street and I decided to push him for fun.
I actually tried flying for a bit and it worked, surprisingly, on my first attempt. I just stayed flat on the ground and tried pushing myself off until I started floating. I flew for a bit but I ended up waking up from excitement.
Anyway, that short 5 minute lucid dream was a lot of fun. I'm glad that I've got motivation back to start lucid dreaming again after that experience, because I was about to give up.
Also, now I know a new technique to increase the likelyhood of a lucid dream. I'm going to call it an SDACILD. (Sleep Deprivation and Coffee Induced Lucid Dream).
Anyway, hope this gives some of you who haven't had a lucid dream yet some motivation. It does happen and for me it could have happened much faster with some practice, so stay motivated and practice your technique everyday because eventually it will happen.
