My first attempt at a WILD

So I decided to try a WILD for the first time last night. I planned it all out before I went to bed, setting my alarm and deciding what I would do when I woke up. It was all going well, I woke up at 5:00, went to the bathroom, and went to the fridge to grab the bottle of apple juice I bought the night before. I then went back to bed, and tried a few of the techniques I learned from Dream Views. I found it was very easy for me to relax, and the whole process happened very quickly. I heard some strange noises and saw weird patterns as I entered the dream. I wasn’t as lucid as I expected to be, and I had very little control of the dream. It was like I was Mario from a video game, and I had to do certain tasks. Anyway, It went ok and I woke up from the dream at 5:30 and went back to bed. Then this morning, I open my fridge and see my bottle of apple juice still there, right where I left it the night before. Suddenly I realized that I never got out of my bed at all, that drinking the apple juice was already part of my dream. So I guess I woke up at 5:00, and then fell back asleep and started dreaming it all. But the WILD felt so real, and I had never had one before so I didn’t know what to expect. Thoughts?

@Medium - WILD stands for Wake Induced (or Initiated) Lucid Dream. We have a WILD Tutorial in the DV WIKI.

Truly a unique experience. It sure sounds like a good WILD.

Were you actually aware you were dreaming in the dream or did you dream about dreaming? I ask because the former suggests lucidity and the latter implies a nifty dream but no lucidity. Sometimes it can be difficult to read a post the way the author intended and the way I read your post makes it sound like you aren't entirely sure about being lucid.

I know I have a hell-of-a-lot of dreams about stuff on DreamViews but only some of them are lucid, which is why I ask. Some dreams with familiar elements can seem very vivid and real yet not be lucid.

It's really up to you to decide if you were aware you were dreaming.

Either way....it sounds really cool for such a short experience. Let us know what you think.

Well when before I tried doing the wild, I was dreaming and I had no idea. I totally thought it was real life. But after trying the wild in my dream, I was lucid. Not completely lucid as I have been other times, but enough for me to think the wild was a success. So it wasn't until later that I realized I was dreaming the whole time, and that I never actually tried doing the wild in real life, just in a dream.

Yeah I've had many dreams of WILDing thinking I was WILDing in real life but it was all a dream. It's strange, in the resultant dream you seem to see everything around you as a dream but in many ways you aren't lucid at all.

It wasn't a WILD but at least you got something out of it. That's more than most people get on their first attempt.
