I've practiced for about four years now and the best advice I can give you is to not try too hard. Don't search for a method or technique to help you because lucid dreaming is a natural thing.
Reality checks works for some people although I am too lazy to do them and well they don't make a very big difference to me either. So I have actually not performed a reality check in about one and half year.
So try this for just a few nights. Just enjoy sleep! Fall asleep with the knowledge of lucid dreaming and tell yourself that you will remember your dreams in the morning.
But just for a change try to just sleep. You can focus on your breath while going to sleep, daydream or anything you want, but don't try to use a method or technique. Trust yourself!
Ironically and annoying as it is my dry spells where always broken when I didn't try to get lucid.
Another way of doing this is, instead of focusing on the lucidity part, just focus on the awareness and tell yourself that you will be more aware of your vivid dreams and enjoy the recalling process.
Then the lucidity will come naturally.
This pretty much cover the indirect way of becoming lucid. I am starting to learn direct entry only now but I promise you, it will go much faster if you start out with the indirect way of doing it first. And when you have frequent lucid moments indirectly you can start using a direct method to lucid dream almost at will.
If you have more questions, just ask again
