I dont know, but when I have long lucid dreams I wake up amazingly refreshed and very rested. Ive never felt strain from having lucid dreams.

True, since the even when you have regular dreams you are aking decisions and constantly doing stuff. The only difference is you know its a dream meaning, it probably be less stressfull.

Yup, I agree with ya guys. I find myself actually needing less sleep the mornings I have LDs.

Yup i do also agree that LDs make you feel MORE refreshed than normal dreams. Maybe its because you are so excited that you had a LD, so your body is more awake, but i always feel much better after a LD than after a normal dream, or god forbid no dreams at all

I'm fairly new with LD, and last night was probably the most dream recalls I've ever had (a couple being lucid, but no control), but I found myself waking up after every single dream, even really short ones. I read today that it's good to be waking up after every dream, and writing it down, but today I'm so tired! How will I get enough sleep if I wake up so many times in the middle of the night?

Don't do it every day then, just limit it to nights when you know you won't have anything important to do the next day.

Lucid dreaming only makes you tired if your doing somthing like WBTB and your up for 30mins or so in the middle of the night provided you give yourself a bit extra in the morning you'll be fine. As for the refreshed feeling i have to agree with the others and i even get this to a lesser extent with my normal dreams now there more vivid

Being lucid has a tendency to just kill me. I wake up really groggy and tired, and I'm not sure why.

I always feel quite the opposite. Do you sleep the same amount of time?

hmm, sounds like it's different for a lot of people. for me, i feel very replenished after i have lucid dreams... and for the rest of the day i feel great. it might just be because of the excitement of being lucid, but it sure seems that it gives me better rest.

funny...i'm the opposite of most people on this thread. I feel tired after LDing alot. It takes alot of effort to stay in an LD sometimes...so i know my brain is functioning more than in a non-LD. But that is just me.

I heard that when your lucid, it effects the restoration process the brain goes through during REM via subconscious. the Dorsolateral prefrontal Cortex is not suppose to be awake during REM. Most of you probably only feel refreshed due to the excitment from just experiencing a lucid dream.

The last post in this thread was in 2004 (look at date over username on individual post), I don't think that you will get much replies. I also think that the admins would appreciate if you didn't post in threads this old, it's better to start new ones, that way more people will respond and discuss the matter.
