      Possibly First lucid dream?

Well I just got the exploring the world of the lucid dreaming by Stephen laberge and started to read it. I only read a few pages before falling asleep and haven't read enough to actually learn ways to induce lucid dreaming but I had the thought of it in my mind. I remember being in my grandmothers basement and this huge wave of feeling came to be I had this great feeling all through my body and all the sudden I was saying oh my god I am dreaming and I started to run around. When I started getting excited It seemed to fade out so I started spinning which I read helps you stay lucid but from there it just faded out.

The thing is after I had plenty of other dreams so its not like I woke up saying wow I had a lucid dream! This lucid feeling went by so fast and did not feel completely like I was there so it makes me think maybe it was just a vivid dream of me thinking I had a lucid dream if that makes any sense? Either way I felt like it was a breakthrough and that brief feeling was unlike anything I have experienced in dreams and I hope that it will lead to much more

Congrats--that was your first lucid dream! "Lucid" only has to do with realizing you're dreaming, not the actual accomplishments you achieve while in the dream. Even running around for a few seconds is a lot better than I managed on MY first intentional lucid dream (in which I simply went blind and had my other four senses for a few seconds before waking up).

Congrats on the first lucid dream!
As Salathor said, being lucid means being aware that you are dreaming. Getting too excited often destabilizes the dream and it's pretty usual for first lucid dreams, and ofcourse, with some practice you will get longer lucid dreams.

Well done! It won't take you long to get the longer lucid dreams you desire, all it takes is practice and dedication. It's common, as Checker666 said, to wake up due to excitement in your first lucid dream, and it's also common to get your first after reading up on the subject. I'm glad you managed to get one so quickly!

A good way to practice is to tell yourself throughout the day, "I could be dreaming!" and take a few moments to entertain the idea. The things you could do. You'll feel that same feeling of excitement. After that, perform a Reality Check, properly questioning your surroundings, then move on with your day if it isn't a dream. This exercise helps you to get used to that feeling of excitement so that it doesn't shock you so much, and you can use relaxation techniques to try and calm yourself down before moving on. This can prove useful in dreams as well.

      Good luck!
