      Waking Lucid Hallucination

Hey y'all, new here. Sorry this is a little long, but I don't quite understand what happened and would like some feedback.

I had a very odd experience today that caused me to seek out this forum. I was trying to nap on my couch in the afternoon, and every time I closed my eyes it seemed that I would snap into an extremely vivid dream of rather normal things happening in the room I was in (roommates coming and going, etc.), but I knew I was dreaming because music was playing (it had not been when I went to sleep). This suddenness frightened me, and I pulled out of it only to be greeted by a short bout of sleep paralysis.

Now, I experience sleep paralysis fairly often, so I calmly waited for it to pass, and there were no hallucinations this time. I shook it off and tried to sleep again and was immediately dreaming with the music. The suddenness once again startled me, so I instinctively drew back, finding myself paralyzed once again. This time I did hallucinate. A girl I recently me was lying next to me, and when my body started vibrating she said, "You promised to go to sleep! Come on now." I closed my eyes again because they were whizzing about uncomfortably, but I could still feel her hair and shoulder on my arm. I have hallucinated before, but have never tried to control these hallucinations I call "bastard dreams." I decided to try it, and reached out to touch her with my mind (still paralyzed so I couldn't literally reach out). She sighed and shifted, and I could sense her body position. It was so strange and very hard to explain, but she responded to my efforts. I decided to try to kiss her because she's very attractive and I have a thing for her , and I once again reached out. She made a passionate noise and I could feel her lips. Then the hallucination ended, and the paralysis wore off.

I don't know if this is a form of lucid dreaming or if I am just insane. Has anyone else experienced this? Any thoughts? Please respond!

This may have just been a lucid dream in which you were attempting to have a lucid dream? I'm not sure, and you would likely know better, whether you are in fact experiencing sleep paralysis or if it's a dream sign. Recently on DreamViews, people try not to talk about sleep paralysis as there was a lot of misinformation flying about as a result of it. Certain people, including me, agree that the best way to get lucid is simply to will yourself to be lucid
I do know, though, of the short yet vivid dreams you speak of... Odd things do happen in them. I don't think it's anything to be worried about, especially in a nap, where wierd shit goes down more often

Sorry, I didn't mean to bring up sleep paralysis again (it was in fact sleep paralysis though). The short vivid dreams kept happening for about an hour and were very interesting. It was almost as if I could just get up and do things around my house while my body took a nap for me. Very much an out of body experience like most lucid dreams can be.

This is common for me. Many times while exiting a lucid dream, even though the vision has completely faded to black I can still feel perfectly objects I might be holding in my hand or touching. I use this often to pull myself back into the dream by thinking about the dream and feeling the dream still there in my hands. The vision will just suddenly be back and I'm there again. Your experience sounds like a false awakening to me and they can be really disorienting. If you can get in the habit of remembering to do a reality check that would probably help you out a lot when that happens. My favorite one is to plug my nose and attempt to breathe through it. If you're going insane well, a good portion of the people on this forum are too.

I once experienced something similar except it was a nightmare... I 'awoke' to the creepy bride lady from insidious at the foot of my bed. I knew she wasn't real so I closed my eyes and tried to fall asleep again but I couldn't because I was too freaked out by the fact it felt like she had her hands locked around my ankles like she was getting ready to yank me out of my bed :0 . It was at this point that I fought off the paralysis and forced myself to wake up. Hypnogogic hallucinations I think their called.
