Strange lucid dream - False awakening?

      Hey everyone!
Last night was the first night in months I hadn't used an electronic device right before bed, and instead I got in, got comfortable and read 'Of Mice and Men', and went straight to sleep. I had a very vivid dream about scientists inventing a false reality device and I went to the false reality and picked up girls, fought people and got shot by a man with a bow and arrow but the bow had a load of arrows which fired at once, and I remember looking at myself and being covered in holes!
I had a little inkling that it was a dream, I'm not a lucid dreamer, but I may have experienced it before, but I remember that you could look in a mirror to check reality. I looked in the mirror conveniently placed near me, and I was wearing my favourite outfit.
Then, I remember 'waking up'. I was lying in my bed facing the wall with the light on (I forgot to turn the light off) and I stayed completely still for some reason. I started feeling a weird tingling and strange buzzing, clanging sounds when I closed my eyes to try and sleep. Like static in my head. Eventually I got past it and fell back into the dream (I believe).

      So a question:
Do you believe that I experienced a false awakening? Have you experienced the strange buzzing sounds before in a false awakening/lucid?

      Thanks

Were you aware, did you know that this is a dream? If so, then it is a lucid.

From your description I get the impression you woke up in your real physical bed, and not in a bed during the dream, if so this is not a FA. FA is when you wake up in a dream and think it is real life. Like for example you wake up in your dream bed, and start preparing for your day, only it is a dream and you wake up for real after that.

The experiences you describe sound like HI or what Sageous refers to a "noise" - which may be related but not required to having a WILD/DEILD or just randomly happening upon falling asleep. You possibly get them because you lay still, mind awake while your body is falling asleep, and you are somehow observing this process. Then you fell asleep again. You may have been quite close to another lucid at that point if you had retained your consciousness a bit longer.

All in all quite positive signs/results if you are interested in inducing lds.

      Thanks for the answer
If I remember correctly DEILD is where you lay still following a dream. I do the beginning stages naturally because of my weird sleep pattern, I wake up early morning feeling tired and go straight back to sleep and drift in and out of sleep with loads of dreams.

The reason I thought it was a FA is because I can't fully remember it, it felt surreal and I can't remember the exact noise or feeling. My mom also has FA often and other disturbances, so it could run in the family.

Like NyxCC says, if you were aware that you were dreaming, you were lucid, if so, congrats!
To add to what NyxCC said, it really can be either, if you think that it was FA, then i guess it could have been, you are the one to decide really. False awakenings can be potentially very vivid and copy waking life almost exactly, the reason why they are so confusing and also the reason why they are awesome.
My false awakenings most of time start with my dream eyes closed, i think i even managed to DEILD from FA at one point even if that was not a proper DEILD, haha.
By the way here's tutorial on DEILD, worth a read: http://www.dreamviews.com/induction-...cid-dream.html

I agree with what Checker666 said. I think you may have a great predisposition to DEILD following your explantions. It will be really cool to explore this opportunity and turn it to a longer LD. It could well be something inherited too, I know I have taken some sleeping behavior from my parents.

Oh, and by the way if you knew you were lucid during the mirror dream, that might as well earn you the basic task i wings for this month. Check this out: June TOTM

Good luck in your future endeavors!

      Thanks.
Although I think it could be easy for me to get into a lucid dream as I may be more naturally able to go into one, most of the lucidity is actually just being aware for a moment... I can remember the aware moment but I can't in a way, as if it was just a dream xD (obviously that doesn't help at all)

Ah, don't worry, it takes time to make these experiences last longer. The important thing is to be persistent and positive about it.

Have you experienced the strange buzzing sounds before in a false awakening/lucid?
No not really, but I have them when I'm trying dream chaining.
Dream chaining is when you wake up and lay perfectly still to try and trick your body to think you're still asleep, it makes you go back to sleep while conscious.
This is a good way to become lucid again.

Just when I try to go to sleep this way, I ALWAYS get some strange sounds inside my head, which has prevented me from practicing this method at least two times.

It wasn't like a subtle sound... it was an all consuming noise when i closed my eyes, not painful loud but it more than noticeable.
