Yeah, recall is really important! I am no expert but I think good recall is the single best thing a beginner can have! You should exploit it by writing everything down in detail

I tend to write down my dreams in as much detail as I can remember (but not pedantic detail). Can you give me any advice on extra stuff I should write down? No matter how vividly I recall my dreams (which is quite often), I never seem to become lucid.

Thats strange.. Imagine some situations in which you become lucid. For example if you just had a dream about dragons imagine yourself looking at the dragon and saying 'hey dragons are not real this must be a dream' and then imagine the things you want to do while lucid. You can also do affirmations. For example if you dream a lot about dragons, you could repeat to yourself in your head 'the next time I see a dragon I become aware that I am dreaming' 100 times before sleeping. If you know you dream a lot about a certain thing you can prepare yourself for it, so that the next time you see it you become lucid.

Sensei says some things about dream journalling, you should read his tutorial it might help you.
      How to effectively dream journal

If its still not working you can make a thread 'Great recall but no lucid dreams', people might help you out. I think it's really strange to have great recall and no lucid dreams. Maybe you should do some meditation, how is your self awareness? That might be the issue.

Im sorry about the late response, I am on vacation so DV didn't occur to me

      Good luck

Thanks very much for the advice, Ginsan! You've been really helpful. Scaling up my dream journal to a more intense level and generally being around the forum have improved my dream recall to even greater than normal levels, but that's also partially because of WBTB techniques. I'm hoping that the general increased recall might do the trick in giving me my first lucid dream. I'm going to try that thread idea out anyway, thanks! That transformation guide has me really excited to, which has increased my motivation to keep this level of journalling up. Gonna see if I can make it industrial scale!

      Thanks
      Liolar

write what you felt and could smell and hear. I find those are things that trigger memory when you wake
