There are Only Two Species of Induction and their Love Child Mutt!

Just feeling silly really. I have not started a regular thread for a little while.

WILD- all attempts that involve you going from awake to dreaming belong here.

DILD- all randomly occuring LDs belong here if you are asleep and non-lucid, then become lucid.

Hybrid Mutt- DEILD, the highly effective DEILD is very much a DILD as you are grasping onto a dream and trying to restart it, however it is due to being partially awake that you can become lucid. Variations that play off this idea are hybrids of WILD/DILD.

Two groups only and a cross of the two.

Just my random opinion, but feel free to discuss and even question or dispute.

It is helpful in my mind to make the induction techniques this straight forward. Little room for confusion; the student learns the basis of these two, and applies that to any variation they wish to try.

I took an 'e' out of Species for you.

I think this has been posed a few times, and seems to resurface every time someone posts a new technique.

For what it's worth, I like a good mutt, at least in theory.

Don't forget their estranged half-sister, EILD

(externally induced, Novadreamer and the like).

Always, no sometimes think it's me,
But you know I know when it's a dream
      I think I know I mean a yes
      But it's all wrong

But ultimately even EILD would fall into a DILD category as you have to notice the influence and react to it within the dream.

Yeah it depends on the level of specificity you want to go to. Some would argue that DILDs can only be defined as resulting from stimuli from within the dream.

But I see DEILD as a subset of WILD, for simplicity's sake it's helpful to just draw the line between WILD and DILD as Laberge does in ETWOLD.

I think the sheer amount of categorisation that goes on among online communities is just insane, and often misinformed, I've seen one youtube video series where the guy doing it differentiated between 'RCILDs' (Reality check ILD), and DILD which he defined as 'the dream telling you you're in a dream' (???), and that MILD isn't a technique in its own right.

I honestly don't care for the acronyms. They're a simple way to categorize things but everyone seems to want to cash-in on them like creating a new term will win them money.

People should worry less about the terms and less about most things...and just enjoy the dreams.

Where did that mutt go? Here, puppy...come here...(whistle)

That's why I posted the thread. The concept of WILD and DILD cover it all. We need a special catagory for the WILD and I support that. But it is enough. I can even accept DEILD going in with WILD, but then the title of the thread would not be so funny.

Oh wait! I have one. ETMBTSOABILD! Eat too many burritoes and then sleep on a bus induced lucid dream! Or the classic, DIYBMWNILD, Dog in your bed making weird noises induced lucid dream. Where will it end?
