My second (albeit short) Lucid dream!

Well, I've been at this since March of 2014, a period of almost 5 months, and I've only just had my second lucid dream. Again, it was short despite my attempts to anchor myself by touching the ground (I forgot about and didn't have time to try spinning). Anyway, I'd woken up (to pee) at around 2 am this past Saturday morning, and knew I wouldn't be able to fall back to sleep, so I went on-line with my Ipad and did some reading for almost 2 hours. I fell back to sleep and in my dream I was entering a "Jetson's-style" flying car. The clear roof-bulb was open and I stepped into the vehicle. It was at this moment that I realized "I MUST BE DREAMING...THIS IS A DREAM!" I became completely lucid, and decided, what the hell, let me try and pilot this thing, knowing no matter what, even if I crashed, it was a dream.

Well, I actually did quite poorly in the piloting department, and ended up about 15 - 20 seconds later, having a water landing on a pond or lake. It was at this moment that I started losing lucidity. What appeared to be a vortex of clouds started spinning outside the space-car canopy. I tried putting my hand down to touch the floor of the car, but it was no use. The cloud vortex got whiter and closer, and I woke up.

On the one hand I was thrilled, OTOH, bummed I couldn't get it to last. Oh well. I've been good on dream recall, poor on lucidity, and feel like an opportunity was once again squandered.

      Congrats on the lucid success!
It definitely takes time and dedication, but it gets easier and more consistent the longer you keep at it.
Recall and attaining lucidity are great steps! Dream control and stabilisation can be worked on as you continue to have more LDs.
Good luck, stick with it! I look forward to following your progress.

Btw, I like your username and avatar!

Thanks for the kind words. I'm currently reading a couple of texts on LD - as if this site didn't have enough material! I was aware that spinning is a tried and true method of stabilizing a LD, but there is not much room to spin around in a Jetsons-style flying car. Maybe it would have been a better decision once I became lucid to step OUT of the car, since the controls were a complete mystery to me...and that is what led to the rather uh...shall we say short (LOL!) flight and crash.

Glad you like the avatar and username. I like it too.

Congrats on the success! Don't let it get to you. You recognized the dream state which means you got it right. It will happen more and more. Keep up the good work.
