Id say you were halfway there. You were in a "pre-lucid" state, but your subconsciouss began playing tricks on you so you couldn't fully get to the realization part. So I think no, you didn't have a lucid dream. Good luck next time! |

So just last night, I had a dream where I was with my friends in some neighborhood, and in the beginning of the dream, I thought to myself "this is a dream right?" I was going to try to breath in through my nose while pinching it but every time I tried one of my friends would tackle me. Eventually I stopped trying to do reality checks and just went along with the dream. So even though I couldn't do a reality check, I still had the feeling that I was dreaming towards the beginning. Does that count as a lucid dream? Hopefully I'm not posting this in the wrong place btw |

I call that semi-lucid. For me it usually goes something like: *something really weird is happening, e.g. someone is trying to kill me*, I think "Oh well, at least it's not real", and carry on with the dream. But I never feel like I actually become lucid. It's frustrating waking up and realizing how close you were to becoming lucid haha |

That's true! It is a sign that you are becoming more aware in dreams, in my opinion . |
