      Lucid Dreaming Success!

TL: DR: Became lucid in a dream, levitated in my front yard, saw a girl flying nearby. False awakening (probably) that led to a perception of an OBE. Went back to my front yard, levitated, then summoned a fictional character, flying down the street with him.

After an extensive lucid dreaming dry spell (ten days), I finally succeeded in becoming lucid again! I had set my alarm before bed, but woke this morning a few hours before it went off and decided to go ahead and try to get lucid after coming back to bed.

I used a different mantra this time, "This is a dream." I counted to 100 once to help myself relax and then just kept repeating the mantra. I had intended to WILD but lying on my back was hurting so I rolled over and let myself fall asleep for a DILD.

      1. I started out dreaming just a normal, random dream. I was in the kitchen throwing away moldy bread. I remembered I was going to try to LD, and became aware that I might be dreaming, and did a reality check. I jumped once in the air, easily levitating. Having verified my dream state, I dropped what I was doing and immediately went outside. I forgot to start my clarity and awareness exercises at first.

It was cold-ish outside, like winter in the city I live in. I noted the disparity, remembering it was actually summer. I levitated again, rising up through the tree branches, reaching out to touch their bark and feeling it rough under my fingertips. I did this deliberately as I remembered to try to heighten clarity, but I didn't continue the exercises, too caught up in the moment. There were more trees in my dream yard than there are in reality, but I didn't notice this.

In the distance, just past our side property, I saw a girl in a hoodie sweatshirt with earbuds in her ears, flying (I don't know how I knew she had earphones, considering her distance, but that's a dream for ya). With my incredibly rational dream logic (lol), I decided she must be another lucid dreamer, and waved at her. She waved back, and I woke up. This was probably a false awakening, but it could have been just a brief real awakening that led to a WILD. Either way, I entered another lucid dream.

      2. In the false or real awakening, I lay there for a moment thinking about the dream I'd just had and wanting to go into another, and had what I perceived to be an OBE. I "exited" easily out of my body, sat up in bed. (No, I don't think I was really OOB)

I thought about my exercises, but decided I wanted to go outside first because it was boring just standing around in my room, so I tried to teleport straight outside by attempting to visualize the front porch. I couldn't teleport, though, so gave up and walked down the stairs and out the door. I stepped outside and levitated again. This time I noticed it was warmer and humid-- not exactly hot, but maybe in the 70s or 80s (which was probably more or less accurate for that time of the morning).

My thoughts wandered a bit and then I remembered my goal of "calling" a favorite fictional character into my dreams.

I closed my eyes and tried to picture him, calling him by name and asking him to appear. I sensed his presence behind me and turned to look. It was a poor simulacra of his presence, like a partially manifested ghost, almost visible, maybe even to the point of being a transparent shape. I felt frustrated with this, but decided to run with it and hopefully my mind would fill in the gaps if I just pretended he was here fully.

We were walking down the street hand in hand-- he did become slightly more tangible, but not fully-- and I asked him if he wanted to fly. He seemed surprised by the question, but acted quite eager to try it out. Holding his hand and pulling him along, I levitated in the air with him and told him he just had to believe he could. We flew low over my home street, turning to fly up the main road towards the freeway. He was giddy, laughing and talking and whooping. I began to lose altitude then and we landed, then lost the dream, winding up in a second false awakening where I lost lucidity.
