no single reality test is foolproof.
try several: look at a clock, look at hands, put finger through palm, hold your nose and breath, etc.

the plug your nose and try to breathe reality check hasnt failed me yet. I suggest you do that one

Same here this RC has never failed yet, it always seems to work even if it is slight breathing.

i agree with these guys. the nose plug technique defenately seems to be the closest technique to "fool-proof." hasn't failed me yet. then again, i've only had one lucid dream.

anyway, about the non changing text.. my guess would be that the text was something that was very important in the dream. or something that is very farmiliar to you in real life. when doing this technique you wanna look at something that is kinda unimportant, not like the name of a farmilar building like Publix.

One that hasn't failed me in the few lucids I have had is putting my foot behind my head. I know it sounds weird, but I can't do it in waking life. lol

Usually when you suspect you're dreaming, you're probably right. Try something that'd only work in a dream

The best reality check is probably: When you ask yourself if it is a dream, you wouldn't normally ever in real life ask yourself and mean it " Is this a dream "
Are you unsure of reality = Dream

Even though, harder done than said (:

the only way the nose one would fail is if you had a blocked up nose in reality happened to me once and lost my chance of been lucid

The hand over nose is In my opinion, The best RC ever. Anytime I do a reality check in a dream, even though I've only had 3 lucids, It worked everytime. I even tried the finger through palm RC while I was lucid, Didn't work

It is possible to fail RC's in dreams, I'd personally do the finger and palm RC but the nose one works really well too.
