I spent four or so days playing tetris for about 2-3 hours apiece. I ended up dreaming about tetris, and I would flit through solutions to tetris problems.

Just last night I dreamed of playing videogames. I always tend to mix things up and so I played Cloud (final fantasy 7) riding on a horse (maybe legend of zelda) through a desert (tales of symphonia).
I came to an oasis and the graphics switched to high-render graphics. sweet! xD

It would have been perfect if that had been a lucid dream.

I've played quite a few video games over the years and there was a point I played a lot of Ultima Online and I often get dreams in third person or with very flat images still - not very cool.
Probably less than when I was still playing though

Just recently Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition has been creeping into my dreams. so now people i headshot just get some huge parasite tentacle for a head and they are harder to kill. Also, in halo three dreams, do you guys feel that you have a controller, and thats how you move, like it's no effort to walk and jump you just push a button you can't see? also, I kept trying to check the score (it would pop up and cover my 'screen') but it was in fractions and i kept getting killed. I quitting video games before bed.

Hah! That sucks! I have a similar experience. Sometimes stuff turns cartonish, or the texture of grass morphs from individual blades to solid green carpet. To fix this, get out in the real world more. Better graphics, less lag.

But videogames can be a good influence, too. Like riding the air boat from Half Life 2 around town last night. In the few lucid dreams that start as videogames, the scene either dissapates, or I pull my vision away from the screen. There are, of course, less cool VG dreams, such as collecting purple coins from Super Mario Galaxy (also from last night!).

sounds like video games can make a good induction technique. lol. It would be sweet if somehow someone made a game that had "are you dreaming" some how incorporated with it. Example: one of the backgrounds has lucid dreaming all over it". So like if the game is fun and someone dreams about the game and sees that background, person does reality check, finds out there dreaming.. and does what ever they feel like...

      hmm...

I play lots of video games, but the "graphics", as it were, are never low quality in my LDs. They're usually very lifelike.

After last night I'm even more convinced that video game dreams are amazing. I had a fallout 3 themed one and the only bad part about it, was that I woke up knowing that the game couldnt be as good as what I dreamt

Oh, I would LOVE to dream a Wind Waker-style or Okami-style dream... Wouldn't that be wonderful? I always thought those were very beautiful games... Meeting Toon Link is going to be one of my lucid goals when I start LD'ing xD

Talking Too many video games = lousy lucid dreams?

Not exactly...I've had some dreams of the Gran Turismo series of games dating back to 2004, where this nonsensical game intro was trying to get its players fearing this modified Skyline R33 GT-R which had a wide-body and a spoiler, and was a little longer than a normal Skyline sold in Japan. That would be the Nismo Skyline LM Road Car according to Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec or the Nismo Skyline LM Road Going Version '95 according to Gran Turismo 4.

Most of the dreams I had mostly involved racing games like Ridge Racer, Daytona USA (two of my favorites from the '90s), Super Hang-On, and the San Francisco Rush series at inopportune moments in these games. Now if only Sega and Namco could revive their Daytona USA and Ridge Racer franchises back in the arcades...

In my awesome vivid dream the other night everything seemed real, besides the earth my Spaceship flew past. It was computerized but still had good graphics.

Video games have never made my dreams worse, only better. Playing as a vulture from starcraft or being in a bizarre version of counter-strike where you can not only buy weapons but various drugs too is always fun.

Holy crap! YES! Cel-shaded dreams would be amazing. Okami is so beautiful.

I tried lucid dreaming of Phantom Hourglass for a while. I gave up. D=

Last night once again my lucid dream resembled DOOM, not as in I was killing caca demons with a shotgun, but the fact that the textures looked like 8-bit graphics from an old video game. Maybe this has nothing to do with the amount of games I play, or the fact that I am a game design student as well.... but what the hell?

Maybe my brain needs a new video card...

Any suggestions or opinions would be appreciated!
My brain's video card is far more superior. I had a dream a couple weeks back that resembled Doom 3. I remember my girlfriend being in it, and we were both the marines (kind of like a co-op mission!) and we were trying to save this scientist... and there was this underground lab that had two sections, and they were connected via bridge over a HUGE FREAKING RIVER OF LAVA.

I remember shooting Viles (the dudes that throw fire) and those Cherrub things, and Imps, and killing them, and also killing Revenants.

Then somehow a chip bag full of mutant flies got thrown into the mix.

After that my girlfriend and I were at a ball, dancing. Total wtf dream

I already get disorientated when I jump through portals in the game, there's no way I could properly use portals in my dream...

I remember one dream in which I couldn't see very far, so I increased the view distance.

My lucid last night was affected by Call of Duty 4's graphics. I did that one technique to make the world around me look realistic, but it didn't work very well. A lot of things, when studied closely, looked like 3d models with detailed textures on them (very similar to Cod4's graphics on high settings). Kind of disappointing, because one of my dream goals was to marvel at the realism once the technique was done.

i had recently a few dreams that had to do with Metal Gear Solid. pretty sick game except for the fact that i didnt have lucidy but since i have been having it commonly, i try to make it a dream sign. same with school although i had a dream that metal gears were attacking my school and i was behind the incident secretly.

a lucid dream about GTA 4 would be nice

I play alot of video games but rarely have dreams based on them, however I do happen to have dreams with game elements in them.

I do agree that video games can make lucid dreaming harder. It's much harder for me to recognize whats fake or not from time to time because of a video game element within my dream.

I once dreamt about TimeSplitters: Future Perfect. I entered the "MapMaker" mode, which is a very flexible editor, but not extremely (i.e. no diagnal surfaces, allies, bumpy terrain, etc.) and I dreamt I found a way to do all that by inputing a code somewhere (in a non-existant text box in the MapMaker) that unlocks such tiles. When I woke I was pissed off.

I once had 5 gta4 dreams in one night. The funny thing is that I havent played that game in a long time( and didnt play the night I had the dreams). I still feel some gta influence in my dreams. My last LD was one where I pushed a taxi cab driver out of his cab and stole it

I have to try that. Steal a car GTA style, and drive around the city blocks at night, picking up hookers (the censored version sucks) and doing drive by's. And then a tea party that has absolutely no tea, but sniper rifles. Many, many sniper rifles .
