      Failed Dream Spin

      First Post
OK so I wake up last night, after having a non lucid dream, and begin to go back to sleep. As i'm laying there I notice that i'm falling asleep....I feel the sleep and dream coming on very slowly in stages, then BAM all of a sudden I'm on some monkey bars in a very nice park type setting. The grass is very big and a beautifull green, the sun is a brilliant yellow, the temperature is warm, and theres a nice breeze...AND I'm already lucid YAY. This is the first time I can remember ever going into a dream lucid, instead of obtaining lucidity mid-dream. Naturally it got me quite excited so i hoped off the monkey bars, but it felt really weird, like I was having real trouble controling my body. I tried to walk around but it was really hard...i couldn't understand it, so now i'm excited and quite frustrated and I begin to feel the dream fade. But i've had some success with dream spinning before so I stop and try to spin to hold onto my dream, only i can't...my body feels like a led weight and I go crashing to the ground after about half a rotation and wake up...WHAT THE... Has anyone else ever had any problems where they weren't phsyically able to spin to stay in a lucid dream?? Any suggestions on another method if i should run into that problem again?

Welcome DreamMagi! Hope you stick around everyone here is real nice

With every good thing it takes practice to get good at it, The fact that your getting lucids is a great first step, but one must also go to the next stage and master control of that dream. When dream spinning it is best to have no thoughts and be part of the world, once you realise this you can fly, control surroundings, everything! My main suggestion to you is since you know you have a problem with this next time you go lucid practice! I did that with flying and I have no problem now. When you find yourself loosing your dream focus on one object and study it's detail; Hope this has helped!

      Good luck

strange. I've had a failed dream spin before but it just didnt work/bring me anywhere. Honestly i dont know what was up with that. probably your subconcious playing against you or you didn't have a lot of control. Next time either try one of these two or both. Try flying or using up all your willpower to be light. Or just sit there and accept it. See what happens then.

I get the feeling that once you try to force something in a dream your thrown out... just like at a strip club, you touch a girl your history. But if one just sits back and watch, just like in a non lucid dream your in without a problem. Maybe the trick is to combine this to states somehow, trick the brain or just force enough to kick the throwher out of the strip club, symbolised talking

Forgive me if im pulling this from knowhere, but isn't dream spinning associated with the inner ear and balance, which is linked to dreaming and keeping it there?
Also you can keep intent on your senses while spinning, not just "spinning will keep me awake", associate the spin with taste, hearing, smell ect

Have no idea about the crashing into the floor part?..hehe next time you go, say to yourself, " im as light as a feather"
      n00bs i love you

I've found that failed LDs, on my part, result from certain real life stressors that my system is still haunted by in the dream state. My last LD involved a false awakening and all I did once I realized it was an LD was to stare at the carpet and watch it move around like I was on acid. My mind did not want to give up its reality perceptions, thus, when I tried to do anything in the dream it felt as if the action was locked :ACCESS DENIED:
This super sucks, and I know the feeling too well. Some simple relaxation techniques before sleep to clear your mind may help. I'll be trying some myself here shortly. Best of luck/None of suck.
