To me, meditation is lying down, listening to appropriate music, and chilling the fuck out. it is not only enjoyable while you're doing it, but i find the 'mindfulness' that you still have after finishing meditation to be really refreshing. i hope to have better technique(s) for meditation at the end of semester, i kind of do my own thing at the moment.

did some meditation this morning in bed. i put on a playlist of chill songs and gradually relaxed my whole body. i guess it was focal meditation because i reduced my consciousness to just listening to the music. lasted about 45 minutes.

one of the songs on the playlist:

meditated for about an hour or so upon waking up this morning.
just relaxed body and mind as much as possible and then did some visualization of a one of my favourite dreams, trying to imagine as many senses as possible. feels good man
think i'll use this dream for MILD visualizations too from now on.

tried void meditation as described in shockwaves lesson this morning for about 30min.
i know it isn't recommended but i lay down to meditate, this works best for me (i can be fully relaxed in under 2 min)
cleared mind and was just lying there peacefully listening to john frusciantes 'curtains' album and started to get a few wisps of HI.
as i was coming out of the meditation i thought about how i might make my life more organised and less stressful.

got up and cleaned my flat and ate a bunch of fruit hahaha.

was really stressed today and for the first time ever i felt that i needed to do some meditation to order my thoughts and get the day moving in a more positive direction.

i lay on my bed and listened to this playlist:

got suuuuuper relaxed, cleared my mind, and after enjoying the peace for a while i got to work on my stresses. managed to get to a place where i felt extremely positive and mindful, then slowly brought myself back to reality.

i carried on my day in a far better state than prior to meditating, would've been one of those days otherwise.

      nice save

first focal meditation went well, but i definitely have room to improve. used bonobo as focal object and meditated for about 30 min. next time i'll try to stay in focus a bit better

Interesting use of music for mediation - I find music kinda distracting - beats get stuck in my head easily and music causes emotional response for me. I have had some experience with using binaural beats and it's worked very well but I haven't used actual music in a while

yeah i really think it depends what kind of music you use. Most of the time words are a bit distracting so i use ambient or electronic music.
I find brian eno to be the best though, this track is almost always in my meditation playlists:

actually imagine being in real deep meditation and hearing this, it's mint!

had about a week break from meditation, then had a short (20 min) meditation yesterday because i actually really felt that i needed it.

      focal object was music

      refreshed
i think i'll go back to mediating daily, seems to really help with my general functioning

well it's been a while since i've posted here.
since last post have probably meditated 5 or 6 times, all very short except yesterdays which was about an hour long.
It was really nice and has had me really calm since

i've been reading The Dharma Bums by Jack Kerouac which has been inspiring me to meditate & to find some beautiful place to meditate

going for a bit of a hike in some native forest today, will try to find a sweet place to meditate

went for a hike yesterday and found a sweet spot where i can see my whole city and lots of ocean.
      meditated there for 20min.
though short it was the best meditation i've had yet. The feeling of the sun and the wind was incredible, especially with my eyes closed.
      might go there again today
