I agree the term "awake" can be misleading. WILD means Wake Induced Lucid Dream not Wake Induced Lucid Awake. It can only happen when you're dreaming and to dream you have to be asleep and to lucid...

If you like brutal stabilization techniques, try breaking your fingers/toes, one by one. And why stop there? Snap one of your legs in two or rip off an arm. That'll ground you pretty fast.
