Thread: reoccurring nightmares about father.

My father is an abusive man. It's more mental abuse toward me, but he has hit me a few times. He's broken my moms back twice, broken her wrist, and he also used to mentally abuse her. He is also a pedophile, and he is psychosocial, bipolar, and has multiple personalities. My mom & I left him 3 years ago, but she took him back and we had to move back in with him. Nothing changed, and my mom and I were so scared of him, we slept with knives under our pillows. In May, he tried to kill my mom, (and my cats) so he was arrested, and my mom and I moved some place where he'd never find us.

I've been having horrible nightmares where he would find us, and he'd go after my mom first, and then he'd kill my cats, and then he'd come looking for me. In the dream, whenever he'd come for me, I would always climb out the window, and hide on the roof. Sometimes the dreams are set in the house I grew up in, other times they're set in the last house we lived in before he was arrested. The nightmares get so bad, I can't even go back to sleep. I don't know why I keep having them, and is there anyway to get them to stop?
