      "Pure Form" Nightmares

I would simply like to ask you people if any of you have encountered something like this:

A few weeks ago, I was having a lucid dream. Me and my dream guide were in conflict with another dream character, and I was lucid. When we thought that we had killed her (by crushing her with a log.) She pushed it off, and became a horrible monster with long spidery limbs, glowing red eyes, and a black aura. I managed to defeat the nightmare by asking its purpose.

A few days ago, I had another lucid, this time I was being attacked by a lion. Being lucid, I commanded the lion to stop attacking me. And it underwent a similar transformation. Its head stretched out, and it's yellowish fur shed to reveal a black, evil form. And of course, glowing red eyes and a smoky black aura. I escaped the situation with dream spinning.

I have seen several other creatures that are like this in dreams where I was not lucid, and I have even seen similar creatures described in others dream journals, although the transformation is still unique to those dreams.

So to shorthand it, my theory goes that when you see a creature with those general characteristics (Spiked figure, glowing red eyes, smoky black or dark grey aura) That it is a nightmare or dream character somehow revealing their true form. I'm not sure why they do this, or why, when I am lucid, evil dream characters take this form. Basically the nightmares are revealing their true form.

So I basically want to spark discussion with this fourm? Has anyone encountered this type of thing other than me? Are they easy or difficult to defeat?

Hey, I know this is late, but it's still I guess it's okay to post, no?

I've not seen much discussion on this type dream stuff in general so certainly sparks my interest.

I've had similar experiences, I've called it a mask/essence...where there is the gross or first form, which when removed by whatever means reveals the essence, sometimes it's a kid, or like what you've seen, glowing red eyes, fanged, golum-like creature, although those that occur in my LDs generally hover or have genie-type lower body/no legs or what-not.

With these DC, it depends on how they are as to how I've dealt with...okay so I like to talk to my DCs; evil or not; so I'll just break this up for simplicity; in terms of defeat, I've only defeated or contained one particular type with assistance, I've noticed I have a few types, of "pure form" as you call it.

Characteristics-Most aggressive Ones: the previous dream form/mask was a friend, my parents, then when they altered/reveal form, they generally changed into a pitch black mass, red-eyes, swords for arms/hands(saber shaped), or into red-eyed, fanged, (first morphed hands into sabers, but then as I left that dream into the next dream layer, the hands turned into claws, body to a fanged, emaciated old man)

Approach-Banishment: With my parents, I was only semi-lucid and just kept imagining a shield to protect me from them, when my protector guide came by and wrapped his wings(he was a moth) around them and whisked them off.

-With a friend, who tried to suck energy off me, she began to stab me(with her morphed sword hands), it didn't hurt as it was just a lucid nightmare/dream, I just left the dream layer/my dream body, well it gets complicated, but basically, I worked out a deal with my dopple, where I gave him greater power as he resides in my subconscious, yada yada, anyway, the friend, now red-eyed, emaciated, golum type wisp, my dopple transported him out of the area, and set up a phase-changing window to keep him out, meanwhile, I figure out wtf.

Approach-Containment: Just what it says, whilst lucid, I trapped them in a jail cell, until I could get them to cooperate. In this situation, I tried to understand their nature, symbolism, purpose, etc. Sometimes, it took some detective work to figure it out, but it really resolved those reoccurring nightmares/LD where they occurred.

Characteristics-Lesser aggressive Ones: Sometimes they had red-eyes, sometimes cat-like eyes, all had fangs, some were black, vaporous beings others more like a weird fanged blanket wisp thing, in the dream form/mask they varied as well, generally as a part of myself that was hidden, one was literally a spot behind me in a dream, like a shadow. It was funny, when I became lucid and noticed it(I was in 3rd person), the fanged, black-vapor ghost thing changed from the black dot, to the other essence like form, and then I watched the dream play in reverse, and it would "pause" at various times, and he'd be like, oh, see that, I was there, with this really creepy music playing in the background(kinda like this:Puss in Boots)lol.

Approach-Conversation: With all of the lesser aggressive ones, we just talked it out, what was their role? If they had anything the felt pressing to say? That I needed to know? etc. They'd have their peace, and dissolve. Or another one made a request, so my dream guide took it to a special building for those situations. Fun stuff.

I'm not sure if you do this, but I have a tendency to dream in layers, so one of the simplest ways of dealing with bothersome dcs is to leave that layer, it's basically feels like as if you are going out of body but within the dream.
