Well, sometimes you can take it from a literal meaning:

Space. as in a space. So....play around with that.

yea, that describes what I was trying to describe... heh

According to the big bang theory there will be a 'edge' of where there's stuff, because it is expanding, it has a certain size, so it has limits (the stuff). But, there's always room to expand, so there's no end to \"space\" ...[/b]
See, it makes sence now I hope.

      one theory

I heard a theory once from one of my teachers, a while back, which is just something to contemplate, It seems pretty far out there...

It was the idea that, what we consider our universe does have an boundary (how that boundary is determined, I don't know) and there is a completely separate universe bonded to ours. I think the idea is that, they rotate around each other, moving in a kind of torus shape. The idea is that there are many separate toruses, all with separate universes inside them. Which leads to the idea, that there is a universe of universes, instead of galaxies. It's kind of like one of those russian dolls, with the cup-like people all stacked inside each other... maybe the heirarchy continues infinately, who knows...

It's pretty bizarre to think about, but considering we have no idea what's outside what we can see with our telescopes, I guess it's just as possible as any other idea out there.

It makes sense, we always finding stuff smaller and smaller too. Any time a person says they found the smallest "part" of matter someone else finds something new. I don't think its hard to think that it goes on forever both ways, groups of things getting smaller and groups of things getting bigger.

I think you're referring to the theory that all atoms, etc can be broken down in such small parts, and that those eventually are galaxies, etc on their own, and that our universe, etc, all are part of other atoms, quarks, whatever the smalles particle we know is, right?

yeah, that's pretty much what I'm saying.. If it can continue to the smallest level possible, why not to the largest level possible as well?

I like that idea grithic. Thinking about it will give me one more way to grind my brain to a screeching halt and force myself to sleep

I have been there in a lucid dream and am a new member. My first posting was my experience is posted under experiences. I am timetraveler543. I am by far not religious...but very spiritual. And I did my best to keep that out...as I believe they both must be right and intertwine.

I wonder if one were to travel beyond the limitations of the universe they would wind up on the opposite side of the universe sort of like pac-man.

Probably. That's what happens when you travel to the left side of the Earth.

The universe is a balloon. It expands, but is infinite.

This is like space, i'm literally looking in the past because of a necro bump...

I don't get why you think it's probable that the universe is a sphere.
