Thread: Convince me that I'm not dreaming right now

The truth is you can never know if you are dreaming or not. For all you know, what you are experiencing right now is all an elaborate dream that just happens to show consistency. Perhaps the "dreams" you dream at night are merely blips of irregularity in this relatively stable dream of "life." Life is sensory, and if sensory experiences compose your nightly dreams, who is to say that what you are experiencing now is not of the same tentative nature?

Also, I do hope that this is a shared dream you are having. I'd hate to die if you ever woke up.

If this is a dream, and we are real, then we are all shared dreaming if we all see the same thing as everyone else. Like inside a big bubble, absorbing what everyone else absorbes at the same time.

It would be funny if are all just D/Cs.

Just 'cause we can't fly or move objects doesn't mean we couldn't be dreaming or from what I think projecting (I'll explain later). In a dream we seem to go into a world where our expectation of whats real is limited, and accept pretty weird shit to be reality and don't think anything that house is leaning sideways or something. How do we know that our brain right now isn't limited to what we see as real. Hey, maybe we can fly, its just that we've train our minds to think otherwise and accept the limitations of this world.

Maybe you're dreaming, can fly, move objects and kill people with your thought. But maybe you're just not Lucid.
You'll have to do a reality check. We know that text will change in dreams, which it wont in reality (1)
But we don't know what difference there is between reality (1) and reality (2 - The real reality). So maybe the only RC is to die?

Imagine this; every year, you wake up. Do your everyday life that we, right now know nothing about. As soon as you wake up, time stops in this reality we know. And when we go to bed again in the real reality, time starts again. We wont notice.
So maybe we're just not lucid. Maybe this reality is totally abnormal and insane to the real reality, but the habit of doing a reality check from the real reality just hasn't come with us.
We're dreaming! We just don't know it. Maybe I just woke up? Maybe real me just had a normal day there, and time stopped when he (she?) woke up, and it began for me again when he/she went to bed again. I wouldn't notice!

Interesting thoughts to play with :p

The real question is: does it matter?
People like to feel like they are in control but you can never be sure of anything. You'll find that in most cases, truth is a paradox. Even if you woke up from this "dream" you would question that reality. When Neo awoke from the matrix, he could have been in another matrix. If the computers were smart, they would have made 2 realities, kind of like a false awakening. But I digress.

If the occurrences and sense in the awakened world show as stark a contrast and the occurrences and sense in our dreaming world, I'd say it matters.

I've thought about the possibility of a double Matrix in that movie, too. Like when he waved his arms and made the robots crash. XD

Hmm, it's getting easier to read in my dreams. None of these posts are really incoherent...

maybe there is something in a soul that acts as our "brains", and what we see is still an illusion and you will never wake up because you are not alive to begin with. You are just energy floating around feeling great, and wanting to learn new things. To learn we have to live life by illusions, and expierience the fakeness that is everything. The reality of this quite possibly be...nothings real, we don't exist, we just expierience. To exist you gotta be awake and alive. If you can't wake up, and everythings an illusion, then you're not real and you never will be.

and a quote from Home Improvement (on nick at nite) I think Wilson (that the name..?), tim's neighbor said, "My greatest fear is that reality is really someone's dream, and when that someone wakes up, I will cease to exist."

So what would the reality check be for this world?

Of course. I cannot do this therefore I am in a dream. When I dream at night, I can do this, therefore that is the real world. duh.

The universe is a dream. Your mind is the universe.
It creates dreams while you sleep. If that is a dream, then you are dreaming now.
