I think that music is entertaining and meaningfull for a few reasons. the first, i believe is The lyrics (if any) provide new thoughts and ideas. The second is the sounds and lyrics together induce different emotions to an extreme point. IE: NORMALLY rock=anger, pop=love/adventure, country=sadness/tradition. this in a way acts as a mini catharsis. thirdly, i think that our mind relates the repetition of the song to daily events. for example, if i am playing WOW and listening to a song with heavy drums, then i automatically associate the drums with the buttons i am pressing.

Cool! Music is one of a few things that can produce a real change in mood, which is marvelous.

It's merely a combination of sounds...

For me, personally, music is a wonderful affirmation of how beautiful the world actually is when you stop focusing on all of the "restrictions" we set ourself, and how we tend to focus only on the negative aspects. I dunno, it just makes me feel alive I suppose, free.

It feels to me, like the epitome of breaking free from autonomy and restriction, pure creation and interpretation.
When I was in high school I was very ambitious, I wanted to be the Class President but I missed out by only about 3 votes.

So they made me the Class Secretary of Defence.

I'm not sure that it's a philosophy per se, but I'm drawn to music because it's something most cultures have in common; like dancing and language and spirituality, etc.

It is something that links cultures together, but it's fascinating to me even moreso because cultures all express that link in so many different ways. The content, the purpose, the interpretation...it varies so widely, that you can learn alot about a culture [or an individual] just from the music they value the most.

It can be a personal experience as much as it can be a communal one. That's just neat.

Music is like art, in so far as it is an interpretation of being, existence.
The music we like usually reflects our philosophical disposition on life,
the "moment" essentially. My roommate loves rap and hip hop because it has a "sick beat". The lyrics generally are rather irrelevant, the emphasis is on the melody and beat, rather than some sort of "message".

I like music that tends to be rather melancholic and intellectual; the interesting thing is is though, is when I listen to this kind of music, i reversible feel "completed" or satisfied to a higher degree. It is this attachment to a more stimulating reality of thought and sound that underscores a motif, rather than just the mind alone. I believe its why, collectively, music can be perceived as "emotional".

Music in of itself its purely sound, but when deciphered, is like a scroll that never stops unrolling. Subjectively, it is what we make it to be. It's the reason perhaps is so attractive, it modulates on perception. It is of the few reality in our life that delineates the ability of consciousness in so far as its relativity to perception.

Music, very rarely, is composed in an analytical manner, rather it is whimsically put together on some abnormal perception on some sort of reality that boggles the mind. It shows how we all are different, yet experience very similar emotional strife and joy which is manifested in song.

Music is the universal language of consciousness.

Music. Even a fetus will respond.

I like how entwined music and math are. It's a direct link between the complexities involved with the "nonhuman" universe and the complexity of human culture.

Music to me is a backdrop to my imagination and meditations that I have throughout the day.

The state of modern music is one of those things that I like to go on a rant about from time to time. It really is upsetting, its all part of the demise of culture and the need to indoctrinate the population with music. Music is now just an outlet of shitty values like consumer mania.
For me music is about two things, beauty, and the ability to inspire emotion. Does the majority of modern music have either of these attributes? No
The ability to inspire emotion is why Bob Marley will always be my favourite artist, when your feeling down you can just blast Bob and all your worries just melt away.
