Why do YOU believe in God?

I'm interested to see. Christians and/or other monotheistic religions only please. These means no arguing-just state why. If your reason is clearly void and not on the list; I will point out why; but lets not make this an attack thread. Merely a justification one. Void reasons are as follows: "Because the Bible says God" If this is your reason; why do you believe the Bible? Is now the question- feel free to answer that. "Because I was raised a Christian" - You could have been raised to believe in Thor, etc. Doesn't work as an argument. "Because if there was no God than nothing would matter"- So what if nothing matters? You matter. If there is no God, you matter just as much as you would if there was a God [I will explain this on request]. One reason I hate monotheism is it kicks humanity down. "Because there just must be.. like.. lol" -Think about it and come back. "Because if there is a God it is a better world than if there isn't" ...Right, same goes for if there are teletubbies on the moon. It would sure be a better world if there were.. this does not mean there is. Thats just wishful thinking. [Also I believe it would actually be a horrible world if God existed, but that's another story] "Because, faith, lol" -I have faith in Lord Sauron being real. 4 real. "Because of Jesus" -See "why do you believe the bible?" "Because we have an inherent sense of morals" -Just don't. If you really want to know why.. say.. but.. It would tangent the thread to hell. OK. So, why do YOU believe; without using any of the above points? This is not an attack on monotheism. This is merely a question. Do not feel the need to defend your religion. Because I am not attacking it. Simply justify it.

Because life (as in living things) is too complex and intricately designed to not have a designer. Not only do things work on their own, but they work together: the systems of the body, how we provide CO2 for plants and they provide O2 for us. (How do you get subscript on this forum?)

If you mean in terms of evolution, nope. I've seen scientific evidence against evolution, and it is more compelling than the evidence for it. It's overall a very fragile theory. From what I've seen, research for it goes against standard scientific research. They try to find evidence to fit their theory rather than build a theory around the evidence. It does not have the purpose of enlightening us, rather to defy God so that immoral actions are justified.

True enough. I doubt I will. I don't know all the arguments and evidence off the top of my head, so I'd end up having to do alot of research, and I'd rather do other things. I once was extremely agnostic and completely analytical. But when I discovered this site long ago and began doing research into spirituality, life after death, and my studies of existence itself - I began to believe fully in a higher being that had some sort of part in all that which is. I very much find it ironic compared to Einstein as well: The more he studied the universe, the more he believed in a higher power. However, I do not acknowledge the Creator as 'God', for that is nothing but a title given to It from mankind. I simply like to think of it as 'That Which Is'. I also do not practice any doctrine. I simply stand next to what is morally acceptable.

Honestly, it wouldn't have surprised me although I also wouldn't have agreed with it. Read the thing im quoting,he asked for ppl who beleive in monosthetic faiths....and hinduism isn't monoshetic. Why would someone be offended that they weren't included in a question which only refers to two or three religions anyways? He didn't ask about Greek or Norse gods either.
