      God probably isn't real.
      Everything is natural.
Yahweh murdered the sons of the Egyptians in the Bible.
      Noah's ark is an impossibility
      The eucharist is disgusting
The bible promotes hate, discrimination, and murder.
There is no evidence for Jesus' existence other than the contradicting stories in the bible.
Faith is the equivalent of Orwellian doublethink.
Genesis is a fairy tale that promotes ignorance.
Heaven would be a terrible place because of infinite existence.
Yahweh is a jealous ghost with no life.
Which reminds me, ghosts don't exist either.
The Journey of the Israelites to the promised land was an unholy crusade of theft, murder, and rape.

      I hope I've helped your faith :3

It's normal to explore and as questions. To evaluate. To wonder. Those that don't do as such have blind belief, not faith based on anything solid. Exploration can lead to a stronger Christianity and true faith, but don't loose sight of who you are and where you came from.

I gather that God made you feel complete, whole? The joy of the Lord is that strength as is the power of the spirit. Without that you are feeling empty now. Does religion fill you with substance or fluff? For those that have felt it, the answer is clear.

Mark 11:23-I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.

Just as important as keeping sight of the creator, is not letting yourself fall into paradigm. That sort of blindness leads many away.

Without exploration, doubt is second nature.

But don't forget who fulfilled the Messianich prophecies or who gave you your soul and salvation.

Jeremiah 3:21-A cry is heard on the barren heights,
the weeping and pleading of the people of Israel,
because they have perverted their ways
and have forgotten the LORD their God.

I am more than willing to talk to you about it if you want. In fact, I would be ecstatic to as I care about you, DreamHope.

Do you remember any particular event that caused you to give up your faith? Like a relative dying, anything like that? Maybe re-think the rough moment you stopped believing and figure out exactly why it was, there must have been some kind of cause. If you figure that out it could help you decide whether it was a mistake or whether it was a long running thing and it;s something that you can't change. Don't force yourself to believe though if you have no faith any more, I mean think of it this way. When i'm in church nearly everyone doesn't actually copy the vicar during prayers( he asks us read what's on the screen or repeat after him), hardly anyone says "amen". Sometimes I ask them why and you can tell, they just go to church because they always have, but really when they think deep down, they don't truly have faith. Obviously many do but I always think that if I were a God, I would have more disdain for those who paid lip-service to me out of fear or the like and didn't really believe then those who had the courage and intelligence to think hard about the faith and decide they do not want to be a part of it, even if it is the wrong path.

hope that helped in some way.

Cuddleyperson, you are onto something. It is written, "For those of you that are lukewarm, woe to you! I would rather that you were either hot or cold, for I will spew you from my mouth."

I'll post the NIV and King James translation of the verse in one sec, then it might become more familair...

      NIV, Revelation 3:15-17
15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

      King James, Revelation 3:15-16
15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

      There you go, brother.

it's ok i found it. I see what you mean although one interpretation was that both cold and hot mean positive things( cold to refresh, hot to warm) i think it does actually sound like Jesus is saying it is better to be true to yourself and strong willed, then to be half-hearted and not follow your convictions, even if your convictions are not right by the Gospel.

I always wonder though, as the answer is unclear, would/does God forgive atheists and those from other faiths? As long as they have led a virtuous life and haven't hurt their fellow man..

"For I am the way the truth and the light, no-one may come tot he father except through, me."

      But on the other hand...

"I will save whomever I will save."

So... I always interpretted it as you can't a saved on this Earth and be of Christ's body without being baptised in Christ. But that doesn't mean God cannot save people at his discretion.

A god who wouldn't (despite giving people their gifts of logic and reason that lead them to reject theism), is not worthy of worship.

As I've said repeatedly, why would I be punished for using my gift of intelligence? Even if there is a god, which obviously I do not believe, I have no fear of punishment. If I were divine I wouldn't care if people believed in me if I only gave them vague happenings and ancient texts. I'm not that egotistical ... and I'm 'only' human. What's a god's excuse?

      accept that God is within

look at what Jesus taught, not what the church taught

      Jesus said in a nutshell
      1. heaven is within you
      2. God is in heaven
      3. I am in God
      4. God is in me
      5. and I am in you

so complete the circle, where does this place God?

I'm not putting any religion out there, but I cannot sometimes believe people believe there no God, look at this amazing Universe! Earth is this small dust in the Universe yet it is so HUGE to us humans. There's a massive load of space out in outerspace, there billions and billions of starts, tons and tons of planets, darkholes, all kinds of lights, different types of planets and this is all ' just became on it's own? '

I believe there is a God, there has to be a creator. I don't understand how someone can disagree. Look at how everything exists. It's a wonderful, beautiful, Universe.

Now of course the question comes up, " Who Created God? "

And my response is " I do not know. " I do however believe that God is of High Intelligance than us puny humans, and that he created us in a way that we do not grasp, and understand everything that there is. That is the way I believe we were created, with not all knowledge.

So who created the beginning of the beginning? No idea.

But I believe there is a God.

Agreed ... but that doesn't mean there is a god that created it because there are many fascinating aspects of it (in addition to some downright cruel ones). Natural processes create beauty all the time.

Saying "because the universe is beautiful in some ways means a god must have made it" is silly.

Earth is this small dust in the Universe yet it is so HUGE to us humans. There's a massive load of space out in outerspace, there billions and billions of starts, tons and tons of planets, darkholes, all kinds of lights, different types of planets and this is all ' just became on it's own? '
Why couldn't it have come about on it's own? Simple rules can produce amazingly complex and beautiful things.

And how is the idea that a creator that came about on it's own which made the universe any better of an explanation? It adds yet another thing to explain and I've set to see any reason that a god would be necessary.

I also assume you believe in a deity from one of the main religions? If that's the case... you are aware that many of the most beautiful aspects of the universe (revealed by science) are not mentioned, and indeed for a long time were suppressed by the Abrahamic religions. I don't see why people overlook the massive errors and still take a religion as true.

The reason you no longer 'feel' the faith is because your subconscious is screaming at you that it makes no sense. It has been all along, and just now it's so loud that your conscious mind can't ignore it. Belief makes no sense whatsoever, and that's not even considering who they expect you to believe in. If I was going to believe in a god, it wouldn't be that egomaniacal bastard from the bible...

I cannot tell you why you "lost" Christ. But I can tell you what would help you in this time of doubt in your life. Review your beliefs, meditate on your values, your morals, and begin to think about what is valuable in this life. Don't stop at cliched, ignorant, or even hateful answers, such as "Because God says so" or "religious people are stupid". Question all things, and look for the truth that pervades social standards, bandwagons, and propaganda techniques. Don't let others sway you on your path, only let them inform you of the fraction of the ultimate truth they have collected.

You've already begun your journey. Don't lose hope now just because you left a bag at the terminal. The wise man does not fret when he loses something, even his way, for in the end he has never lost himself.

I truly do hope and pray that you come to the conclusion of Christ, but Daniel is right in that you must explore and question and wonder. You can't believe just based on paradigm.
