I don't think so. If there's one thing history shows about humanity, it's that we're damn resiliant. I can't see total extinction realistically happening in a very long time.

Then you my friend are not looking at the same humans i am... Many civilizations have rose and fell and each time the rise is larger than the last and the fall even larger. The Roman Empire, The Byzantine, The Mayan. I do not think total annihilation will occur but we seem to take longer to learn from our mistakes than other creatures on this planet. I think we will reach an apocalypse but wont be totally wiped out. Then maybe we'll turn ourselves around. Look for a show call Earth 2100, this is a good representation of what i think will happen. Honestly i believe we need it. I think a new era is at the peak of dawning and the old view is blinding us from seeing it. We just need that push from a major catastrophe to open our eyes.

Don't get me wrong, i love our race, and i hope we can make the necessary changes before it happens but it seems very unlikely. Humans tend to procrastinate with the important stuff, it's almost like it's genetic. If we were wise we would simply change our way of living in the matter of a year, and yes it can be done. Simply look at what Franklin D. Roosevelt did in WWII, he went to the automakers and told them that they would make tanks and jeeps for the war and they did, and that was in the matter of days. If we turn that around and do that for environmental sustainability instead of war, it can work.

I didn't say that the rapture would occur in 2012. 2012 is infamous for being a proposes year of disaster. That's all.

Possibly, but the world would also lose a huge ally in the fight against terror. And by terror, I mean general communism and unfair politics. This would lead to a greater weakness, and strong mideastern countires could in turn take over other countries.

OK, so god isn't responsible for the temptation Satan creates??? I'm pretty sure he made everything in that bible book, and he could've just wiped Satan from existence instead of giving him life in hell and the ability to taunt his children.

Isn't there argument in the Christian community as to when believers will be raptured? There's the pre-tribs, the mid-tribs and the post-tribs, or something like that. The pastor of the Southern Baptist church I used to go to was a staunch post-trib kind of guy, he preached many sermons on the topic. I wish I could highlight some of his arguments, but I never payed attention during church.

There has been. But it's pretty clear cut, imo. We'll be gone before the bad stuff starts happening. Not to say we won't experience bad things, just nothing within the seven year tribulation.
