Hopefully a new technique, or at least a good version of a known technique.

Hello everyone, I'm Dakotahnok but you can just call me dakotah.

I'm currently working on a technique that is better than all other techniques. I'm still in the first few stages of creating this technique, as of right now it's looking more like a MILD. But maybe this could change.

I have four people so far trying this. Like I said as of right now its pretty much a MILD, But I will certainly be adding/taking things away. This is were you come in!!

      Here is the technique:
What this is is MILD with WBTB and meditation.

During the day go through your normal life. If you get any down time at school or work say a mantra that will help with recall. "I will remember my dreams" is a good.

Before bed read your dream journal. Set your alarm for around 3.5 to 4.5 hours. If you wake up on your own in the night just use that, it will be much better.

Go to the bathroom, splash some water in your face, or just walk around. Make sure your not too awake but you won't just fall asleep.

Go back to bed, sit down and start meditating. Try to completely clear your mind and think "I will have a lucid dream" do this for about 10 minutes if you can.

Lay down and continue to think of lucidity. Make your mantra shorter "I dream lucid." Try to make this your last thought before going to bed.

      **recommended**
I highly recommend using a dream journal. It helps recall and it's always fun to go back and re read your nightly adventures.

if you have an iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad. You can use a binaual beat app when meditating. I recommend one called binaualbeat

The next thing I recommend is a product called dream boost. It helps recall but the most amazing thing it has is melatonin which will stop your REM sleep in the early part of the night and then cause REM rebound and you will have longer, close together REM periods.

I would like my adoptees to report to this thread and report any success and/or problems with this technique. As well as any others that decide to join.

To join answer the following questions!!

What's the name you like to go by:

What techniques have you been working on:

How much sleep do you normally get:

How many lucid dreams have you had:

      How many every week:

Do you keep a dream journal:

First things first: Congratulations on your newfound grammar skills!

Second things second, this isn't a new technique. It's basically a MILD and WBTB combo. Not new in any sense, but it can certainly give you a better chance of a lucid dream. I will at least give you that. Still, nice try with trying to create a new technique.

A quick suggestion to make the MILD part better: change it around so that you don't meditate on the bed. I have learned that it isn't good for LDing and that you should only meditate on your bed in you have no other option.

By the way, why did you adopt 4 people?!

Thanks! I'm getting to be a better typer on this thing!!

And also if you read the post you would have seen me say that it wasn't a new technique yet. I'm working on it. This is just the base.

And third thanks for the advice! It doesn't hurt me to meditate on the bed but I'll do some research into it.

Oh yeah I adopted four people because they needed help. It's a bit time consuming but if it helps them then it's worth it!

What's the name you like to go by: Ericka but erible is okay too

What techniques have you been working on: A lot, CAN WILD, DILD, MILD, WILD, etc. I've had 2 WILDs so far

How much sleep do you normally get: 7-10hours on average maybe a little less or more

How many lucid dreams have you had: 36 since I joined DV. but I am sort of a natural and had tons more wayyy before I knew what lucid dreaming was, this site, or that I could actually do it if I tried.

How many every week: I think my highest was 6, but earlier when I joined dreamviews I would have 2-4 a week, I just got back into LDing since like November so it might take a few weeks to build that back up

Do you keep a dream journal: yes

It may hurt other people's LDing abilities, though. Some people that I have read about meditate on their bed, and their mind gets meditation time and sleep time mixed up, so they have a hard time getting lucid dreams. Not sure how that works, but I read about it on DV. It came from somebody that knows quite a bit about this stuff, so I think I can trust him.

Well I have just done some research on the topic and I have found no data that supports your claim. Maybe that guy was talking about personal experience. So I'll just leave it as it is, unless you have some article I could read. I would definitely be willing to.

Okay I know I just posted this thread but I think I'm ready to post the next set of instructions. This will cover habit forming. I have done quite a bit of research on how people learn, and how people form habits.

I'll post it tomorrow sense there is so much to type. I think the next thing I introduce is a different type of meditation. But I haven't done enough research on it yet.

Im basically trying everything at the moment. I dont think it will really conflict but if you think this is more likely to hinder than help me then please say so.

Im currently trying a WBTB WILD MILD DILD.

      lolwut?

Basically Im trying dakotahnoks method and trying others at the same time. Im waking up after about 4.5 hours of sleep (WBTB). Repeating a mantra (MILD) and then getting into bed. I then try to WILD and if the WILD fails (which it usually does because im so tired) then I hope for a MILD from the mantra. I am also getting into the habbit of doing reality checks so I also have a chance of a DILD.

So thats my WBTB WILD MILD DILD.
      Targets:
      WILD [ ] Lucid Dream for 5mins+ [ ] Destroy a Building [ ]
      Meet Dream Guide [ ] Do it [ ] Stop/Slow Time [ ]

The first thing you need to know is what type of learner you are. Think of how you spell a word. Do you think of how it looks? Do you right it down? Do you say the word before you try to spell it?

The thing we need to do is cover all aspects of learning. Visual, Tactile, auditory.

Here is the plan. During the day find a piece of paper and start writing things like "lucid dreams", or "I will have a lucid dream". Do this as much as you can, don't make your hand hurt.

About an hour before bed actualy say the mantra you have been using (you can still say your mantra in your head at WBTB).

Right before bed read what you wrote. Read every line of it. Even if it all says the same thing.

To attain lucidity you are going to have to form a habit. Before a habit forms you have to get through the conditioning phase. The conditioning phase is a thirty day time period that it takes to make a habit stick. To make the habit stick you have to be very dedicated for the thirty day time period.

Do the same thing everyday for thirty days.

For motivation set a goal, don't set it high. Just set it to something like a lucid dream. Every time you reach the goal set the next one a bit higher. (like something you want to do in a lucid). Celebrate when you reach your goal. Eat your favorite food. Post a thread about meeting your goal and how excited you are (anything you want!)

Every time you think of lucidity do a little ritual. Hum a song, snap your fingers, do a little dance. ANYTHING. What this thought does is pay a little more attention to that thought over all your other thoughts.

If you are having a problem think of an alternative solution. "I'm getting mad because I can't be lucid, but if I was lucid I could..." fill in the blank.

Anyway, this is pretty cool! It's sounding a lot like MILD now... still, this is awesome! This is basically what I am learning in MILD class (to some degree, at least)! The writing down the mantra and stuff on paper bit, though, is pretty creative! I'm enjoying reading this tutorial!

Hey please change your sig. If it isn't a new technique don't advertise it as one.

Also I feel like I may have played a role in your new found grammar abilities.

      Good luck to you sir.

I don't think I have advertised it as a new technique. Have I? I'm attempting to create a new technique. I have a large word document full of info that I hope to implement into the technique, so it will be new.

A lot of people contributed. I actually have very proper grammar (and poor spelling). But I always have thought of DV as a place to "chill" and not worry about nonsense like grammar. I guess that I was wrong.

I'll take this as a complement!

Even if this is a place to chill, for many is a place to learn. This is an international community and proper grammar is advised. Not say if you write a tutorial or some sort of help for other users.

Snowboy You are so right about the adoption... I would only adopt one at a time to spend all my time with him or her. For partial/mass mentorship, I host my classes. I would only adopt someone if I consider him or her special for a reason. Several people asked me to be adopted by me, but I only accepted one since I have been around the boards. I have my own reasons

However, I always reply to questions and such, even if I am not adopting the user who casted the questions.

Snowboy You are so right about the adoption... I would only adopt one at a time to spend all my time with him or her. For partial/mass mentorship, I host my classes. It's time consuming... But it is giving them more LD's so I'm happy.

I don't find any user any more special than another.. As long as we don't have conflicting personalities and they have a desire to LD, we will be all good.

Thanks for the guide. I dont actually meditate in the middle of the night, I just write the dreams and then I start saying the mantra. Really nice idea of the fingers' snap when thinking about lucidity or dreams. I will continue to use this. Just to note I already had around 6 LDs in this week (4 DEILD and 2 MILD).

PS: I didnt have a lucid for 2-3 months and then when I start your techinque they just keep coming. THANKS!
