"Black Holes are the Engines that Create New Universes"

Astrophysicists have long known that our Universe is so big that it could not have reached its current size given the rate of expansion we see now. Instead, they believe it grew by many orders of magnitude in a fraction of a second after the Big Bang, the period known as inflation.

Poplawski's approach immediately solves the inflation problem, saying that torsion caused this rapid inflation, which means the Universe as we see it today can be explained by a single theory of gravity without any additional assumptions about inflation.

Another important corollary of Poplawski's approach is that it makes it possible for universes to be born inside the event horizons of certain kinds of black holes where torsion prevents the formation of a singularity but allows energy density to build up, which leads to the creation of particles on a massive scale via pair production, followed by the expansion of the new universe. "Such an expansion is not visible for observers outside the black hole, for whom the horizon's formation and all subsequent processes occur after infinite time," says Poplawski. For this reason, he emphasizes, the new universe is a separate branch of space time and evolves accordingly.

Poplawski's theory also suggests an solution to why time seems to flow in one direction but not in the other, even though the laws of physics are time symmetric.

Poplawski says the origin of the arrow of time comes from the asymmetry of the flow of matter into the black hole from the mother Universe. "The arrow of cosmic time of a universe inside a black hole would then be fixed by the time-asymmetric collapse of matter through the event horizon," he says. Translated, this means that our Universe inherited its arrow of time from its source. "Daughter universes," he says, "may inherit other properties from their mothers," implying that it may be possible to detect these properties, providing an experimental falsifiable proof of his idea.

Seriously, though. If this turns out to be the case, it is...just.....wow...

Black holes cause singularities. The universe began as a singularity. Makes sense to me.

Inevitable question, how did the first universe arise... I think the current model at least makes an attempt to solve that, or maybe proposes a mechanism that is not bound to our universe.

I think a discovery like this would basically even out the playing field, when it comes to the arguments that could be made as to whether the 'multiverse' actually has an origin, or has simply always been. In our current, human logic, it would make more sense that all things have a beginning. However, if we look at this from the perspective that all forms of logic, rationality, etc., are relative only to our knowledge of own system of space time. What's true in this universe would not necessarily (or even probably) be true in another.

It's still an interesting question, though.

I posted something similar to Oneironaut's post there, but the intrawebs swallered it up!

I think I have one of those black hole universes in my gas tank. No matter how many times I fill it up, the gas just disappears while I'm driving it!

Another problem is that our current understanding of black holes has them slowly evaporating due to Hawking radiation until they are no more, how does this affect the "universe" inside?

I'm not really sure how it's a problem. There isn't quite enough information to say that it goes against the multi-verse theory. Exactly how slow is "slowly evaporating?" It could be said that the universe within the black hole would disintegrate, as well. The timeline for it happening could be on a completely different scale, because the 'daughter' universe would be a macrocosm of the black hole that spawned it, and thus would have a different - relative - space time system. A black hole that we deduced took 7 billion years to evaporate - in our time frame - could have harbored a universe within, which would seem to have taken 100 billion years, if measured by a living creature within that daughter universe.

How slow depends on the size of the black hole. I'm just curious how the evaporation of a black hole would manifest itself in the "universe" therein?

Agreed. When you said 'problem,' I thought you meant it as something that contradicts the theory.

I know this has no scientific basis but i watched an amusing lecture by Nassim Haramein once and he claimed that universes excist in the black hole.
He also claimed that inside a star is a black hole. So that means when a black hole swallows the light on this side it comes out on the other side as a star . crazy huh.

So if u take this logic when a black hole here evaporated it equals the death of a star in another (or this same) universe.

One must consider the possibility that space/TIME would not be ... the same ... in this other universe.
