I haven't taken physics yet, it doesn't sound like my cup of tea though to be honest. I'm in between Chemistry, my teacher is awesome, and the class is awesome. I dunno, it's just very interesting. When I took Bio last year, I had a shitty teacher who taught it badly, so can't really say. In other words - Chem.

I don't think you can group biology with physics/chemistry. Physics and chemistry are concerned with the universe as a whole whereas biology is concerned with only one aspect of it that happens to be located on this planet. If anything, add mathematics.

Is math considered a type of science though? Anyways I wanted to post the major science subjects that are learned in school (specifically high school).

Sorry, I was just rambling. Math isn't a natural science anyway so your group is good.

I hate natural sciences. I would choose biology specifically because it is less of a hard science than physics and chemistry. (hard as in strict)

Chemistry, Maths, and Physics. The three most awesome subjects in the world known to man.

      I hate biology.

Definately Physics, however, the question at hand has been a great ponder for a great deal of my life. Im not so sure why I love it. Maybe it's my passion to take everything apart and build it from scratch, something I've been known to do since I was a child. Perhaps maybe it's my anarchic self-sufficient spirit. Or maybe it's the adventure of playing in the lab. Maybe it's just something instilled within my psyche' for some reason I may never know of. Maybe....

I am thinking that the people who vote "physics" only like it for physics theory. :/

      Anyway, I am a chemistry fan. :3

I like Chemistry the best, with Physics being a close 2nd. You get to do a lot of fun labs in both classes, (I turned a penny silver and gold ) but we have to do lab write-ups in Physics

physics isnt only the best science, its the best dam thing in the world. its so interesting, and im good at it in school. chemistry is interesting, but im no good at it, and its not nearly as interesting as physics. and biology is the shitest thing in the world, i feel sorry for biologists.

Bleh, I don't particularly like studying any of them (unfortunately, as that's what takes up half of my life at the moment...). Most of the stuff we do in school I either find mundane or stupidly easy. But a few bits from each I find incredibly interesting, in general the fundamental stuff; so, things like orbitals in chemistry, the basics of cells, organisms, genetic code and evolution in biology, and physics in general...

      Maths destroys them all though.

Physics contains the other two, so to me it seems obvious that it trumps them both.

To be honest this whole thing about one subject 'containing' another isn't true.

You can't actually use physics to predict chemical reactions, with the current knowledge.

Eh I'll vote a very tentative physics because in reality all of the sciences are extremely closely linked.

For example, where does 'atomic structure' fit in the sciences? The easy answer would be in physics, but chemistry is also all about how substances interact, and that is all due to atomic structure (ie. charges on ions, number of electrons in the outer shell etc.)

I also think that most people vote physics because they seem to be the 'pioneers' of science, and are therefore most interesting.

What are you talking about? Of course you can. If you know the electron arrangement of two elements it's trivial to predict what substance they are going to form. We do it all the time in chemistry.

If that's not predicting a chemical reaction using physics I don't know what is.

Uhuh. At what point does that use any physics?

It uses an observation - a chemical observation - that electrons fill up shells.

There is currently no mathematical/physical model for chemistry, using the mathematics of charges and the wave nature of electrons, etecetera. The maths just becomes impossibly complicated for any compound with more than around one or two atoms.

If you study more advanced chemistry, especially organic, it's basically just memorising reactions. There's no particular pattern involved; it's all very ad-hoc, and basically based upon experiment.

That's why, for example, the catalyst industry is so hit and miss. They basically have to try stuff to see if it works or not.
