      One cannot define a thing about the self such that it makes one differ from the self.

      If one believes that love is immortal, then one has to admit that it is not emotion.

      If one knows what the self is:--That environmental acquistion system which must acquire from experience the forms of behavior that maintain and promote our life, then one might understand how to derive love from this.

      Love is all that two do together that maintain and promote their existence. (i.e. the Scriptural "help mate")

      Or in more obscure terms, Love is the virtue of the soul. (i.e. Plato)

      Or one can do another derivation.
