Well, I have heard that exercise before bed makes it harder to go to sleep. Not sure if it affects the quality of dreams, though. |

I tried to workout about an hour before i went to sleep because im trying to work out monday, wednesday, and friday. I tried the WBTB technique, and my dreams have been getting more and more vivid since ive been keeping a dream journal but even with the addition to the WBTB technique I know i had dreams but they were very, very vague. I accidentally moved when i woke up too so i have no idea what they were about either. Is it bad to work out when you are about to go to sleep as it may make my brain tired and have less activity? |

Well, it's hard to say, but I would probably lean toward the theory that tiring yourself out a lot before bed leads to deeper sleep, and lucid dreaming usually occurs in lighter sleep. It doesn't have to be that way, but it does seem much easier to get lucid in a light sleep rather than a deep sleep. Having said that, you have to experiment a little and figure out what is best for you. There's no harm in trying some things out to see if they help. |

If you want the workout to translate to a good nights sleep try and make it around one and a half hours before you go to sleep that way your body doesn't think that you need to be moving and keep you awake. Happy dreaming! |

Generally, coffee and working out share the same rule, since they both are stimulant-inducing effects. Most sources will tell you that in order to gain a good nights sleep (translated: having it easier to fall asleep), workout and sleep should be at a 4 hours difference. Though, we see plenty of people utilizing coffee to fall asleep easier, and to induce Lucid Dreams, perhaps the same could be done with working out. |

Workout before sleep disrupts lucid dreaming, according to LaBerge in his book. |

Generally, claims, workout anytime of the day actually helps people without sleep problems sleep a bit better, and the effects on individuals with insomnia or disturbed sleep seem to be increased. |

Usually, exercising before bed will keep you conscious. That being said, If it's the only time you have, then go forward and practice. Operating out at a less- than -ideal time is way better than not exercising at all. Best of fortune. |

Exercise before bed works great for me. Of course, not right before bed. I usually would take a shower and read for a bit before actually falling asleep. |

Maybe if people are already very tired, exercising helps them sleep. Even coffee won't help if you're really sleepy. But if you aren't very tired you will find yourself unable to fall asleep after a work out. |
