Sleep Paralysis Morphing into something else?

Hello all, I'm new to this board and stumbled across it while trying to find answers to something that has been bothering me. It seems like the right place to go for answers about this kind of issue.

I am having Sleep Paralysis episodes that now have been changing into something else. I hoping for any suggestions as to what could be the cause/prevention, or if anyone has had similar experences.

First from as long as I can remember I have has rare occurences of Lucid dreams. I have never tried to induce/control them, i would just all of a sudden realize I'm dreaming then turn into superman.

Over the last few years I have had these eppisodes of sleep paralysis. I'll come to full consciousness but can't move after I have been sleeping for a while. When this occurs I can sometimes hear all external auditory stimulus but can't open my eyes or move. I get the intense fear, but never had any vivd visions if anthing just foggy ness, I always eventually snap up after what feels like a long struggle...when these eppisodes started it was always after I had been sleeping for a while, but now it's occuring more often with a twist, it's happening when I have just/or am beginning to falling asleep.

In the last couple months I have had multiple really strange episodes unlike anything that I have experienced.
Ex: Last night less then a hour after I went to "sleep" I suddenly became fully awake but was in that familiar paralyzed mode. I tried to roll off my bed (a technique I found can wake me even though, I'm no where near off my bed), suddenly I "woke up". I sat up in my bed but the second I did I looked up and instinctively new I was still dreaming. So I focused again few seconds later same exact thing, "woke up", felt relief that I woke up, then with in a second I somehow "know". I am still not really awake. While this is occurring I can think as clearly as I always do, For example I kept thinking "I hope someone walks in my room and wakes me up, because I am so sick of this"

It happened one more time before I woke up for REAL as soon as I really woke up, I knew instantly I was up. Got some juice and tried to go back to sleep and once again, I had that paralyzed feeling, but instantly was able to wake up.

I am not sure if this will make any sense or if there's a medical term for this type of sleep parasysis. Also If it matters, I never done drugs, or drink. No psychological/sleeping meds. I do have a medical condition called CRPS, which causes me to have trouble falling to sleep because of nerve damage and constant pain. any help on similar experences, possible causes or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the long post...its hard to explain.

      Thank You,
      Brian

Don't take my word for this, but it just sounds like sleep paralysis or REM atonia combined with false awakenings. I looked sleep paralysis up on Wikipedia, and yours sounds like Recurrent Isolated Sleep Paralysis (RISP) - That's frequent episodes throughout life, possibly lasting for an hour or longer, and it's possible to have back-to-back episodes. REM atonia occurs to stop your body from acting out dreams. It would make sense since you're having false awakenings (which are dreams), and maybe you're just aware of your body.

Sleep Paralysis occurs during NREM (before REM), whereas REM Atonia occurs during REM. Sleep paralysis is rare, and while you can dream in NREM, it's probably more likely to be REM atonia.
