Thread: November Task Of The Month 2020

Introduction:
This topic is for the Lucid Tasks that are assigned by the Lucid Task Club and the On-Topic Administrator. Please attempt any or all of these tasks throughout the month.

Report back in this thread, even if you didn't successfully accomplish the task. Your efforts should make interesting reading! This is required in order to get credit, it is no longer sufficient just to say that you did it.

How to get your wings

When you complete a task: Go to your control panel, then to permission groups, and request to be in the group that applies to the task that you've done: one basic or both, one advanced or both, bonus or how many tasks of the year. Please note, that we now have wings for every task. Requesting to join the group will upon approval also grant you access to Lucid Task Club.

Of course you still need to post the pertinent part of the dream here and link to your DJ entry.
Format of your post:
[Basic, Advanced...] -[Name of the Task] - [success or fail] - [pertinent part of a dream] - [link to dj]
For example:
Basic - Drive a car - success

When you post about another successful attempt, please tell me if it was your first or second task from basic or advanced tasks, or first, second... seventh task from the task of the year. I need to know this so I know which wings to give you. If you only say "completed TOTY - flying car" , this doesn't tell me which wings with how many stars should I give you.

Please, make sure you post here your attempts both failures and successes, this will make this post much more dynamic.

Whoever completes any of these tasks gets the following goodies until the end of the month:

• Your name will be displayed in ORANGE in the online members list at the bottom of the main forum page. *NEW* You'll also be displayed in orange purple (by popular vote) in our Discord.
• You will receive a special title and badge.
• You will receive access to the "Lucid Task Club" which is a limited access forum for people that complete a lucid task each month. Members of this club can vote for submitted suggestions for the next month's tasks. Access to the Lucid Task Club will also grant you early access to the next month's tasks, giving you a 2-3 day window to keep your wings for the following month.

Tasks for this month:

Basic Task i -Take a raft across the sea until you reach land. What sort of place do you arrive in? (RelicWraith)

Basic Task ii - Play an instrument that you can play in real life in the dream, see if you can play a song you can play in real life. (MoonageDaydream)

Advanced Task i -Shrink yourself and travel inside the wrinkles of an elderly DC. (monsa199a)

Advanced Task ii - When you next enter a room with people in it, make a pyrotechnic introduction. (RelicWraith)

BONUS TASK!! - Experience a Martian dust storm. (MoonageDaydream)



SEPTEMBER'S BEGINNER TASKS: (Anybody feel free to have fun with these, but you'll get wings only if you are a beginner. Some will change each month!)

1. Slow down, look around, describe what you see.
2. Touch the ground. What is it? Grass, asphalt?
3. Look at your body. What are you wearing?
4. Focus on different muscles in your body and make them flex.
5. Taste something. Does it taste like you'd exp
6. Find text you can read, then look at it again. Has it changed?
7. Walk barefoot for a while. How does the ground feel on your feet?

Outside, I fly around and think about flying to Mars. I see Mars in the night sky. Problem is, I get scared as I near outer space, and decide to come back down. It's just too scary for me. I come back down and head back into the house (gel thru wall). I decide to try the door method. I find a door inside, and open and close it repeatedly to change the scenery. This does work, as the scenery changes every time. However, it's never Mars. Frustrated, I remember going into the dark room, thinking I could do shadow work (dark places are good for that), but it's just an empty room. Finally, I notice the wall behind me is leaking light. It's daytime. I gel through the wall to get out again. The field has Mars decorations all over it - it's some kind of Mars festival. Red rocks all over, I pick these up. Hab tents set up with people in space suits. In the center of the field is a "dust storm", but it's all just fake, even for a dream.

As usual, it's my bedroom, it's dark. I head out to the living room and attempt right away to cast a "Gateway" spell, just like an Aes Sedai in the Wheel of Time books (I've been reading them lately, and the idea occurred I could use this method to get to Mars). I wave my arms around in a splitting motion in the air, and say loudly, "Way Gate!". (*I get this wrong - there's a difference between a Way Gate and a Gateway portal in the Wheel of Time books).

Well. I didn't exactly make a Gateway. No... instead I kind of tore the front wall of the house. Hm. Oops? I try a second time, now the front wall of the house is completely gone. Oh shit. However, just then I notice outside in the front street (since it's now visible) there are two Way Gates waiting for me! I didn't fail after all! They have silvery surfaces, with ornate braided edges. Apparently, I didn't create a Gateway portal, I created Waygates. I dash toward one of them, excited, thinking it's a Gateway portal. When I get there, I rush to it, and lose the dream right before I can go through. Damn!!

Just missed it.

I then thought of tasks to do. This month's bonus task seemed most appropriate. I look around to find Mars. After a minute of travel, I spotted the red planet directly ahead of me. At the rate I was going, it would only take seconds to arrive. I got close enough, that it encompassed much of the view in front.

But suddenly, the scene started blacking out. I couldn't react quickly enough to stop if from collapsing. I tried re-entering, without success.

This task is proving harder than we thought!

I'm thinking speed in lucid dreams can affect stability?

I say it's good practice even if you have done it already. Of course, if you have personal goals or you need to solve problems within your dreams that are more important to you, do those first.

Yeah, well, I did too. But I still want those shiny wings!
