Hey, i was looking for a awesome guitar. I'm sooo undecided its crazy. Okay first, im no noob at guitar. I could use 24-5 frets because i play metal. Also i'm kinda undecided if i should get a floyd rose tremolo or a normal bridge guitar, my current has no trem. The brands im looking at are 1- Schecter 2-Epiphone 3-ESP and 4-Jackson. i buy from www.musiciansfriend.com (yeah i trust them in quality) and i was hoping some guitar whiz's could go there or just post the name of an awesome guitar. k thanks guys.

My ESP Viper 400 was an amazing buy, it is two octave (24 frets) and is completely metal. It's in the "Post Your Guitars!" thread in the lounge... or was it the Artists Corner?

I love my Epiphone Special II. I only paid about $125 for it, from a friend of mine, but I don't think they are too expensive, in stores. Well within your budget, I'm sure. Dunno how much, though.

I would also need a new one soon... My Squier Stratocaser is ok, but I'm outgrowing it a bit skillwise.

Anyone have anything on good death metal sounding amps? I want a Bloodbath/Opeth sound. A 15G Fender Frontman ain't helpin much.

Krank, if you can dish out the money. Line6 would work too.

Or maybe a Marshall. It really depends.

I can't say an exact one, but I would just say go around to some stores and check out the used models. You can probably find a great deal on a really nice guitar that some idiot left in his closet for two years to gather dust, and therefore was extremely cheap for the store to get. I got mine like that, and if I wanted to resell it now (which I don't) I could probably get almost double what I bought it for.

Well, I would ask some advice at your local music-shop too perhaps. What you find a good guitar doesn't just comes down to it's quality, but how you like the sound. You don't often see Cannibal corpse playing on the same guitar as Bob Marley or something.

Anyhow, I can say that a floyd rose is both great and horrible at the same time. I have one. Good points: Never have to tune your guitar, almost never. It just stays in tune great. Also, you can do insane whammy-bar shit, if that is what turns you on. (I never use it).

Downsides: Getting new strings in the bitch. I found that to be rather hard. You have to do them one at a time, so the tension on the bridge doesn't go away. That isn't really the problem, worse is that it is very hard to get it tuned properly, since tensioning one stings, makes all the 5 others stings less tense, because of the lose bridge.

Anyhow.

Good luck!

And of course, check 'em out first. Play 'em some.

Too bad I've gotta use my money on my Corvette... Don't have enough for much else.

And I don't know where any music store is around here... But I'll just wait.
How much should I pay for a good working, used amp? Around 200-350 dollars?

Check out the Agiles at http://rondomusic.com - and spend some time reading reviews of these instruments. After thinking about it for a couple years and playing a wide variety of "middle range" instruments, I'm pretty well set on purchasing one of their semi-acoustics in the foreseeable future. All of their guitars are very well respected and highly rated - especially in the "bang for buck" department.

I'm looking specifically at their AS-1000 for jazz comping: http://www.rondomusic.net/as1000.html

I have a fixed bridge Ibanez S, its good for the tremolo, and it is a fairly good low action "shredder" of a guitar.
If you're looking to play everything, that means different tunings such as drop D, drop C etc... I strongly recommend just getting a guitar with a normal bridge, they can be a SERIOUS pain in the ass to tune on the spot. The positive side to that, is once it is tuned properly it wont come out of tune for a long time. I usually just use a seperate guitar if I ever want to play songs with seperate tunings outside standard.

If you're willing to step outside of the brands you listed, Ibanez has alot of good non-trem bridged guitars. Many have great, low action and would be really good for playing heavy metal and rock. Id consider something similar to an SZ prestige, or one of the mid-range RG's.

Good luck

The ibanez RG series is dfinately good for metal. You might want your own custom pickups tho, but very affordable! a lot of metal pros use them

My brother plays metal, and he uses a seven string platinum BC Rich.

I actually have a BC Rich... But it doesn't have strings, pickups, and the insides are gutted. I wanted to convert it to seven-string, anyone know how hard that wold be? I would need a pickup for a seven-string, and of course, seven strings.
