When I wrote that, I meant what I said. Awareness is secondary to falling asleep, and if you focus too much on awareness, it's going to be next to impossible to fall asleep, which defeats the purpose of a WILD. As such, everything you can do to help yourself fall asleep is only going to help. If that means approaching a WILD as if you were sleeping normally, then that's what you should do.

What I mean by that is you shouldn't do anything special for your WILD outside of your awareness exercise (which is necessary for most WILD methods). If you've chosen the right awareness technique (one that doesn't hinder falling asleep), then you should be pretty set.
