Question New at WILDs- what am i doing wrong?

I have been doing a lot of research on the topic of lucid dreaming and how to get them. I first tried the MILD technique but it did nothing for me. I then found out about WILDs and thought, "Oh my gosh! If I could master this it would be so amazing!!!" I have meditated for about 10 minutes before bed, woken up 4-5 hours after going to bed, and tried a mantra (1 the next scene will be a dream, 2...) for staying conscious. Nothing has worked! Last night I tried for an hour before I accidentally fell asleep. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong or what I can try different? And when should I expect results?

      Hello,

Are you remaining pefectly still as you are repeating your mantra? If you're not then you must discipline yourself to remain perfectly still. if you get the urge to roll over it can sometimes be excruciating ignoring this feeling and means the body is considering going into sleep paraysis. Say your mantra counting up to ten and start again at one. Do this a few times and then just zone out for about thirty seconds and think about nothing as you may be too mentally active and this could be reflected in your body as tension. Just relax a little. Also when you zone out every once in a while from the mantra imagine seeing a very bright flash of light every ten seconds before doing the mantra again. This can help to put you into a deeper trance. 4-5 hours sleep may not be your optimum amount of sleep so experiment with different times. Billybob gives a tutorial on finding the right amount of sleep you will need http://www.dreamviews.com/wiki/WILD-...End-All-Guides. I have had better success with visualisation based WILD's because it isn't always necessary to enter sleep paralysis to succeed. The best method I have found so far has been this http://www.dreamviews.com/f79/how-ha...t-wild-106427/

Thank you! This has been very helpful to me. I will try out your advice. I think an overactive mind might have been my problem.

That also gets in the way of falling asleep normally, too.
