are there 2 different types of WILDs?

hi, this is my first time posting, although I have been having & reading up on LDs since September of this year. My question is: are there 2 different types of WILDs?

Initially, my LDs were all DILDs, where I spontaneously became lucid within dreams. Since then, I began concentrating on having LDs before falling asleep (often using MILD technique), and developed the ability to have WILDs. Mostly, I would watch the hynagogic imagery go by and listen to my tinnitus (quite loud, as I’ve played in rock bands for much of my life), and then I would experience the intense feeling of SP. This was almost always accompanied by intense visuals, an unbearable noise and a disturbing sinking feeling in my torso. It felt as though my consciousness was being dragged through my brain until suddenly I would appear within a dreamscape. And I’d be lucid.

Lately, I’ve experienced a different type of WILD. I’ve heard other LDers say that sometimes after waking from a dream, that they would try to immediately visualize themselves being back in that dreamscape, and often they would re-enter dream, only this time lucidly. I’ve begun doing this with some success. On a couple occasions, after waking from dream, I’ve tried to specifically visualize myself being in certain settings (in one case, a church, in another, a hospital) and was able to enter a new dream in that setting lucidly.

The funny thing is, when I try this visualization technique, I don’t experience the noises or SP feelings that I do with other WILDs. I am wondering why not? Is this a second type of WILD? or a different technique that leads to the same end result?

      curiously yours, -j.

There are two tyoes of lucid dreams. One that happens when your asleep and dreaming. And one that hapens when you are awake and going to sleep and into a dream. Shortened they are DILD and WILD. Then there is sub techniques like

DILD=MILD,V-MILD,CAT, And i think FILD will go here.

WILD=DEILD,V-WILD, and many others that people make up.

I hadn't heard the term DEILD before, but I am sure that's what they were. I didn't move at all before attempting to visualize/re-enter the dream, so that explains why I did not experience SP (i.e., because I was still officially in REM sleep). Thanks for the tip!

FILD is a type of WILD....other than that, you're spot on dakotahnok. @OP, You're not experiencing all of that stuff as much because the transaction is a lot quicker than your average WILD attempt. It's still possible to have them, but in a lot of cases, it's not as intense.

Lol thanks. And yeah I wasn't to sure about FILD. I haven't read anything about it. Bad guess though lol.

question: what exactly is a "FILD"? I did a quick search, but all the threads I read simply mentioned "FILDs" without explaining what it is. if you have a link to a thread that defines/describes it more fully, I'd really appreciate it!

FILD is a method for accelerating the onset of SP using small amplitude muscle contractions. More controversially, it's also touted to be a transition from SP to dream.

It's just a WILD with finger minute finger movements. From my personal experience, it's a good alternative to a DEILD if that person has problems staying aware during the transition back to sleep.
