What exactly do you do when you WILD?

I read all the tutorials and is it basically laying in bed still until you go into SP? (I get about 6 hours of sleep) Because every time I try to do it, I lay in bed very still and my body goes numb. I have a clear mind and focus on my breathing and nothing happens. I see no light patterns or hear any noises. I lay in bed for 45 minutes maybe an hour and still nothing happens. What can I do so it can work?

i used to think the numbing was SP, but there's a deeper feeling after the numbness (at least for me) also followed by or accompanied by heavy vibrations that go up and down my spine. although i've also had the vibrations and laid there for another 20 minutes and never got inside a dream, so sometimes it just wont work for various issues. when it does work though for me, its numbness, vibrations + sinking feeling (kinda hard to breath sometimes) which is when i know i'm in SP, followed by a loud static/white noise sound and a rushing feeling in my head. its kinda weird, but thats when i know the dream happens because i begin to see it construct itself.

it takes a lot of focus sometimes and it can get frustrating, but you gotta keep trying. i'd suggest trying different methods, because some work better for different people. some rely on their breathing, others rely on visualizations and others rely on focusing their awareness on their chakras or body and/or moving energy around.

but thats just what i know, i hope someone with more experience can give you a better answer.

Ok, when you WILD, a common misconception is that you just lay there, stiff as a board, and hope to enter into a dream. That eventually your body will go into SP and you'll hallucinate. BUT YOU NEED TO FALL ASLEEP.

Therefore, you need to use an anchor (e.g. counting in your head, focusing on your breathing, heat) that keeps you just aware enough as you fall asleep and into a dream. Relax, don't think about WILDing, or SP, or hallucinations... Just relax in a comfortable position, make sure you've stretched all the tension out of your muscles, and focus passively on your anchor. I like to focus on my breathing. I don't control it, but I just gently observe it. As I do this and my thoughts start to wander, I'll just keep an eye on my breathing, and eventually enter a dream.

Make sure you stay up long enough during your WBTB that you don't just pass out as soon as you hit the bed though. Find a time that suits you

For myself, the key to a successful WILD is losing track of my body and my position in space. I need to transition my awareness away from my sleeping body, and into a dream body. Two ways to accomplish this are:

      1. Extreme relaxation. Relax my body so much that I can't even feel it anymore. To do this, I alternate imagining my feet sinking into the bed, then my head sinking back into my pillow. I alternate back and forth until I feel like I am floating, or I feel some body distortions. I don't actually move my body, I just imagine the feeling of rocking back and forth.

      2. Imagine a new body for myself. I visualize doing something familiar and tactile. Something involving motion of my body and motion through space. I picture myself running down a familiar street, walking through my house touching things, ect.

Yeah, it can be pretty tricky. Last night I got the usual feelings of sinking, loss of feeling of body etc. and could clearly see what I wanted to imagine in my head, much more clearly than just thinking about it. But I never managed to get further than that. It was quite odd actually, because I just had to go to sleep. Not like an urge because I was extremely tired or anything, but just that it felt as if going to sleep right then would be the best feeling ever. It's quite hard to explain though.

Yup, well to WILD, you need to fall asleep I think next time just focus slightly on an anchor and let your mind let go until you asleep. Because that's what you wanted!

      P.S - I really love Edinburgh

Yeah, I still need to find a balance between staying awake and falling asleep. Sometimes I can go to sleep in a matter of seconds from closing my eyes, and that's no fun.

And yeah, it is a great city
