Does a failed WILD count as sleep? Hear me out...

So far, whenever I attempt a WILD, the following occurs...

I lay there for a long time, maybe get fuzzy limbs, have a vibration or two, and I stay in this strange... limbo...

And it lasts... for... ev... ver...

I was in my little sleep chamber for 3 hours once, and never achieved a WILD. So my question is, say I tried a WBTB + WILD in the middle of the week, and just lay there from 4:50a.m. until 7:50a.m., will that time I spend laying there, drifting between awake and asleep, never quite attaining SP let alone Dreaming... feel like I got the rest, or will I be dead tired?

I believe REM state is when you get the best quality of sleep... Therefore, if you're in that state for a few hours, you'll probably feel rested, even if you're conscious. I've heard of some people who can stay conscious the entire time they're asleep, just looking at the back of their eyelids (which may or may not be moving due to REM), and feel refreshed the next day.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

      Interesting, interesting.

There's another question then, should I be keeping my eyes perfectly still (which isn't physically possible with hypnagogic imagery, IMO), or should I allow them to flicker to and fro? lol

      Thanks for the response!

      No problem.

I've WILDed without keeping my eyes still, although my eyelids were almost fully closed and unmoving. Sometimes your eyes will start to move back and forth or shake, which is a normal part of REM - in that case, just ignore it and hopefully you either have a sleep mask on or a dark room, so that if they open, you won't wake out of the SP because of the light.
