Idea for learning to slip into the dream

I'm going to try this tonight on my WILD attempt.
When I wake for my WBTB, I'm going to set a timer that goes off every 10 minutes. I will try to retain consciousness as long as possible, but I will probably fall asleep before the 10 minutes is up.

If I fall asleep and the timer goes off, it'll wake me up a little bit so that I can continue, the WILD.
If I don't fall asleep, the alarm will be a nuisance, but I can still continue my WILD attempt.

Ultimately, this exercise will help me learn to walk the fine line in between unconsciousness and consciousness. Most methods only allow for 1 attempt per night to do a WILD. This method allows you to hover on that edge between unconsciousness and consciousness more.

Key point: You want to be tired so that you can fall asleep every time you hear the alarm. Also, the alarm goes off by itself. That way you don't have to move and delay SP from setting in.

      Has anyone tried this before?

I tried this the last two nights and I failed both times. The I would fall sleep and the timer wouldn't even wake me up.

Ah, indeed. That is what would happen to me as well . I am a pretty heavy sleeper and the alarms I use to wake up are pretty loud. It was a very good idea though. Maybe if you found a timer that is a tad louder and see what that does for you.
