      trying to hard

these past few days whenever i get the chance to stay home i spend the day attempting to wild.i usually drink plenty of caffeine during any day but have started cutting back so i can wild and just generally have more intense dreams. today is day 1 without caffeine btw. anyway anytime i try to wild i lie down on my recliner and afterawhile get that tingly feeling in my hands and then it moves up my arms and stays there.i try to just fall asleep and stay still but sp never hits me full blast.i usually try to wild 3 times a day. maybe im trying to hard?

I'd say keep trying for now. I'm also limiting my caffeine intake, I've been doing so for about 4 or 5 days now and got some results. You shouldn't try to WILD unless you're doing WBTB or you're having a nap, so I'd recommend cutting it down to maybe one a day.

The best time for WILDs are early in the morning bro. Also, don't rely on SP being the sole means into a WILD. It's a common feature, but not essential. I've WILDed twice without noticing any form of SP. Just focus on remaining 'conscious' while going to sleep.

I think focusing at all seems to be the problem.
Still haven't WILDed successfully myself after about 3 months of trying =/

That's probably where you're going wrong then. Try just ignoring it all; make yourself become passive to it - just stay conscious at the same time. Your main focus should be on reaching that awake/sleep boundary, not looking for signs.

Okay, here's something else which might help: Forget about the WILD entirely; ideally that's how it should be all the time. Just go to sleep, then right before you lose consciousness, bring it back, but don't become alert. Just become aware.
+ I hear stuff about people saying to be ''perfectly conscious'' but from my experiences you're far from it. It's an altered state of consciousness and feels completely different to that of normal wakefulness.

EDIT: When I say aware, I just mean putting enough effort into keeping yourself conscious of it, not conscious yourself, if you get what I'm trying to say? I'm no pro so it's not the easiest of things for me to describe.

I'll give an example: A fly is randomly flying around you. You know it's there, and are fully conscious of it, but at the same time you're paying no attention to it.

Not sure if I worded that right, but hopefully you'll get what I mean.

yeah i get what you mean. today i tried wilding again except this time i was actually napping. i guess it was kind of a mild because i was using my goal of meeting my dream guide as something to focus on other then my body.i got pretty close but just i was slipping into it an airplane flew over the house and startled me somewhat because i thought it was a hallucination

I think I know what you're talking about. I had a sleep disorder during highschool and college so I'd be sleep deprived and tired all the time. By the end of the day, around last or second to last period I always found myself dozing off no matter how hard I tried. But somehow, some-bloody-how I could always keep a very small portion of my mind aware of my surroundings so that I'd be aware of two things- noises around me (not that I'd be consciously able to decipher what they said) and the dim slits of light in between my eyelashes. That way i could prop my hand under my chin, face down and aim my eyes towards my book so it looked like I was reading. I'd choose a seat to the far side of the wall opposite the wall nearest the teacher's desk so that from her angle she'd see the arm propping my head up also blocking most of my face. And, if ever I heard pages turning en masse or heard my name called I'd instantly come alert, "waking up", and I'd turn my page as well or look up to see what was asked.

I think that's what I need to do when WILDing. But... wow, easier said than done. I don't really remember how to do that. I just did it. Because I was tired. And in a setting where sleeping was... frowned upon, to say the least.
