Lightbulb Last night - Is this normal?

Hey guys Before I get into it, id like to say Hello Ive been interested in Lucid dreaming for quite a while now, but only just decided I would really try to get into it.

Last night I attempted to follow "Yoshi's WILD Technique...". I have tried many different techniques, but last night I feel that I got quite close.

So after lying there for a while, my body had a type of tingling feeling to it. I felt very relaxed. I started to hear a loud buzzing type of sound which kept getting louder and louder. My eyes then began to blink rapidly, it was uncontrollable. My heart rate increased and my breathing then became irregular and uncontrollable. It felt like a decent 30seconds maybe even more, where I just couldn't calm down and stay relaxed. After this passed, all I could hear was a quiet sound (almost sounded like wind) but that was it. I lay there for a while but no more progress so i decided to go to bed.

So what happened? Did I get over excited? Maybe I was a bit scared? I think I was focusing too much on what was happening and not focusing on relaxing?

The main thing that put me off was the blinking. I just couldn't control the blinking/eye movement.

Anyone's help and tips would be appreciated.

      Thanks guys

Most likely you felt over-excited or anxious because of the sensations you were experiencing. When in SP, you should allow your mind to relax, but at the same time keep thinking about lucid dreaming, for example, repeat a mantra like "I am dreaming" or "I am in a lucid dream". I've heard a lot of stories of people having trouble with blinking. The best advice I can give is, try to ignore the eye movement and stay focused on lucid dreaming.

Welcome to the Dreamviews forum, Aj!

You were definitely in SP! And yes, you probably just became too excited and focused on what was happening to your body. It's important to relax and take attention off the hallucinations and other SP symptoms, and perhaps imagine a dream scene. Imagine tactile sensations too, if you can. Sometimes the eye movements can become a pain in the butt to deal with - if you find they keep happening, try wearing a sleep mask, which should help keep your eyes closed if they're opening all the time. Make sure the lighting in your room is way down, too.

Keep it up, you're well on your way to a successful WILD.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.
