      WILD: Willed or Wild?

So, I'm currently in a WBTB attempt. I always find myself drifting off, so today I'm spending plenty of extra time awake. In case you're interested, I used the timers on the Android Lucid Dreaming App (the latest version is at the bottom of that thread) to wake me up, so based on its previous performances, I'm right before a REM cycle.

So I thought I'd post a question which I've had for a while. Do you pronounce WILD as "wild" (as in animal) or "willed" (as in strong-willed)? I've wondered about it and I realised I can't really answer, because with some words that I never say aloud, my mind will pronounce them in an odd way, often a way which would be impossible to say aloud. Does anyone understand what I mean by that, or am I just odd?

Interested to hear what you guys say

Yeah, I have heard it pronounced both ways. In actuality it is "W.I.L.D." Pronouncing it as wild (wild animal) or wild (strong-willed) is just a matter of personal preference. No one wants to say W.I.L.D. every time right?

With that said, I have always pronounced it as WILD (wild animal/wild bill/wild card). I think it is fitting because the experience/process is a very wild one. You never know exactly what you will see, hear, experience during SP and the WILD process in general. You are just along for a wild ride...

If you say it W.I.L.D. then it becomes one of those acronyms where it's longer to say the initials than the actual thing itself

I never say it aloud, so it's kind of a mixture of the two when I think the word. If I were to say it aloud then I wouldn't be able to say it the same as I do in my head. If that makes any sense.

I was just about to make a thread about the pronunciation of "DILD".

I pronounce it like "wild" animal.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I pronounce it DILD as in rhymes with filled (which is how I pronounce FILD).

Wow, never really thought about it before, but I actually say/spell out the acronym "D.I.L.D." every time.
I do the same with "D.E.I.L.D." Although, I do pronounce MILD as in rhymes with child.

Looks like I'm in a tiny minority. I 'pronounce' WILD as Willed, DILD as Dill'd, and FILD as Filled. I say 'pronounce' because if I was going to talk aloud about lucid dreaming, I would never scare people off by talking about "Dilds". It just sounds horrible.
